Wasn't me. Seems I recall trying to watch it but 30 minutes in the shaky camera was just too annoying. If I'm thinking of the right flick
Much better if one sees Cloverfield 2008 before seeing 10 Cloverfield Lane? Would you say it is required?
And how is 10 Cloverfield Lane?
10 is getting good ratings, altho here is one reviewer that thinks original Cloverfield was much better.

Thought a thread was already made on this by Thread or Blake but durned if the search turns up any.

91% on rotten tomato. Haven't been to the movies since revenant. I was thinking of going tonight to see this
It was me. The original is good, especially upon repeat viewings, which are required if you want to get a holt of this materiel. It is a nightmare premise. He tromps up out of the Hudson Bay and just tears thru the city. We're not inundated with views of him, but, we're given enough to want more.
"Pacific Rim" picked this up a bit with their treatment, but, PR has no heart to it. And it is a shame. "Cloverfield," thru the use of video recording(s) provide this link twixt us & them.
I'm going to see this new one at the IMAX next week.
Just out of curiosity where is the thread?
I punched Cloverfield in the search box and zippo.
I have no idea.
Last time JJ pulled this it was for Super 8 and I thought it would have some connection with Cloverfield so I went and saw it in the movies and was disapointed. This one looks like it may be on that same path as well where it has a subtle connection to the original but turns out to be nothing.
The original was too gimmicky. Hard to suspend disbelief enough to go along with someone recording all of that as it's happening. This one looks better.
10 Cloverfield Lane is a "spiritual" successor to the first one.. no requirement to see the first
The original sucks. Barely shows glimpses of the aliens and then everyone dies. Stupid movie
You guys seriously didn't like cloverfield? Damn I remember it being a really suspenful movie back when I watched it on theaters
oh and it was already stated this movie has nothing to do with cloverfield.
Just saw it. Solid B.
,
Suspenseful throughout and good acting.
Been hearing it kinda has a Hitch feel tbh
i've been waiting for cloverfield sequel since i saw the first one. but i've been reading that 10 cloverfield lane isn't that. so idk whether to see it or just look up spoilers. didn't really care for the trailer to it...
I never saw the original... but this movie had its own iden y and didn't seem like a sequel, prequel, or anyhting of that sort tbh.
it was okay... not something you'll want to see twice. should've been better.
the original is terrible. Would never watch anything associated with it.
Fun movie. Has absolutely no connection with the first
Saw it last night. Entertaining movie despite the odd ending.
Has absolutely nothing to do with the first film.
Goodman was great, tbh.
It did.
Aside from the end, pretty solid flick.
Btw, worst actor of all time? Whoever did the voice of her boyfriend at the beginning
idk if i could recommend it. i did very much like how it kept you on the edge. i'm pissed about there being no association to the original ? i was looking forward to a cloverfield sequel for a long time. this seemed like it would be a side story in that universe...
spoiler-ish...
so john goodman's character spent his whole life preparing to have to live like that for an uncertain amount of time... and then makes an area vital to his survival unreachable to him
sure, he probably some sort of hazmat suit... but what if he had been unable to go outside at all?
serious question, what was the ing point of putting "Cloverfield" in the le? Are they trying to make it like a new Twilight Zone thing or a "National Lampoons" thing where it's just different stories from the same genre but no connection?
damn you
