ace3g,
Once again, thanks for your excellent photos.

Kevin Martin with 11 mn in his first two games... it is already twice as much as what Chinook was expecting...![]()
Um, it wasn't? It's pretty much 11 minutes more than I expect him to play in the regular rotation, but when he plays, I expect him to play more than five minutes a game.
... just messing up a bit
KMart is a good addition brah
I wish I took photos that well or able to get that close to the action. I get these through yahoo photos.
People complained about his plus minus last game... now look at ya.
Shut rivers down too fwiw. A known spurs killer.
Props Kev.
That was more Kyle's help defense by the way.
Martin's "shoot-first" mentality is actually perfectly tailored for a late-season bench addition. At least he is asserting himself into the offense, instead of just hanging out in the wings and becoming a dead spot on the court.
Even Aldridge, who came in being touted as a guy who "wanted his shots" took a backseat for a while...and it took a couple months for him to start asserting himself. Martin doesn't have that luxury. He's got less than 20 games to figure out how to help the team, and his value isn't going to be found in passing, rebounding, or defense. I'm glad to see Martin actively out there looking to score, because that is exactly what he was brought in to do.
Frankly he teamed up with Kyle in the bench quite well. He knkws his role and playing time depends on him putting point's on the board and he's tailor made for thatm. He could even spell Manu bc the bench otherwise has so much passing anyways that if Manu is playing poorly maybe Martin can give you something... His lineups with Manu weren't really the best but with slowmo he got it going.
Martin is a good scorer and I love how he can draw fouls. That will be a big asset come playoff time.
No mam.![]()
His defense at the three point line had nothing to do with Kyle. Rivers turned it over a couple times, and the one time he beat Martin on a cross, he passed it off for some reason.
KMart was playing defense harder than I would have ever expected. He was down low and hustling to stay in or get back into plays defensively. It seems like he's taken to the Spurs philosophy already because his D is WAY better than advertised so far, just like LMA. Can't wait for playoffs.
Probably the sight of help defense in the paint, which goes to my point.
He's lost his man on occasion, or has seemed lost and out of place. Let's not hype up the defense bc he does get a lot of help. But I have liked that he's making an effort to stay in front if his man and contest shots.
I was being sarcastic much more than serious, but he did his Job was my point. Much better than people who complain about his defense imagined.
Kyle's help defense gave up 3-4 wide open threes due to early rotation if we want to be realistic about things. He cheats early because his slow foot speed. Watch for it tonight against the warriors. As well, that little wrap around swipe when he gets beat is on some James harden level defense at times. He only gets away with it because his amazing length, but let's not ignore that it's a bailout move for being too slow on his feet as well and he gives up as many uncontested layups as he gets steals.
He's improving though, and I'm sure he will play tonight. If we are going to nitpick players tho, let's do it to everyone not just Martin. Guy is usually one of the first off the bench to cheer his teammates on, and has said all the right things and done exactly what pop has asked since he got here. What's not to like..
Not nitpicking him, but also being realistic when defense is concerned. Kyle had to cover up for a lot the past game, practically was the only guy giving help if we are at it, as everyone was pretty lazy starting with Tony, following it up with Boris. Manu was on all levels of bad, from bad gambles, to not contesting shots, to not getting back on transition, really was a terrible game from him on both ends. K. Mart did loose his man once in transition but the guy missed his open 3. For a similar incident Kyle got chewed. Not saying he was stellar but playing at the 4 he had to cover up for a whole lot of guys. That wasn't a task others had. Also he had to help bc the pnr and Lillard were blowing past our guards. Can't blame him for the open 3 when he had to rotate to help.
But for sure K.Mart was not the worst of it. Just had to give this a reality check bc you were cheeky discrediting the help he does get often.

Everyone gets help. It's a system. It's kyles job to rotate over. Martin is supposed to chase them off three to the help. When Kyle us fouling every other drive, Its not good help. For a reality check.
yep - and if KL could get to the line as much as martin he would be the mvp
