Martin showed up to the party. ..
Simmons marches to his own drum.
Why the different screen name?
It's a good opportunity for him to watch and learn, tbh..
Manu will retire after the season(probably) and Martin may not be here, he'll have a shot at real PT..
He's just getting his suit ready for the playoffs. We won't see him much anymore this season.
Heard he's been sick. Flu going around, maybe he got it
He was "sick" tonight, but we will have to wait for next summer to see much of Simmons again. We didn't sign Miller and KMart to be DNP - Inactive.
Simmons has been Stephen Jackson'd by Pop.
2001/2002 Stephen Jackson
Pop played him in 23 games and zero playoff games. Watch learn- next year you have a chance to break through.
That worked out beautifully for the Spurs. If Simmons b/c as good as Sjax (defensive and shooting wise, which he is capable of), I would be ecstatic. Good for him to watch and learn at this point.
Simmons seemed to hit that rookie wall and wasn't really impacting on the court like he was earlier in the season. That, combined with the addition of Kevin Martin and him needing minutes to get adjusted, seems to leave Simmons as the odd man out.
Simmons and Bomar both hit the rookie wall pretty ing hard. If something happens in the next week to cement the Spurs at the 2 seed, you'll see both of them get some burn running out the schedule, but that will be the last of their play time this season.
I still don't get it. Why not put Ander on the DL instead of Simmons? At least Simmons has upside, agility, quickness, shooting and scoring... Ander has none of the above.
After the league saw that he wants to take everything to the hole everyone started backing off him, daring him to shoot the 3. While he has a decent enough shot he hates to shoot it. I think that and his getting burned regularly on the back door play sealed his fate for this year. Anderson, on the other hand, continues to improve and find his spots.
Rookies need to play a lot to get better. The only way to get good at something is to do it a LOT. Thus, it never surprises me when rookies make a few mistakes, get benched, and suddenly they've "hit a wall."
Spurs are stacked top to bottom. Kevin Martin is actually a pretty decent pickup considering he's been averaging 20 points a game in his career.
Pop isn't going to trust playing rookies in the playoffs, he is going to live and die with veterans. What that means is the 2 rookies on the team (Simmons and Boban) are likely sitting the playoff unless there is an injury or the matchup is favorable.
This take is contributing to global warming.
