Bailing out plays with 3 pointers, leading the team in assists.... nothing too flashy, just the heart that keeps on beating and making everybody around him better, tbh

When I saw it live I thought Patty tipped that ball to Kawhi, then I realised it was actually Manu that did it while laying on the floor

I loved the end of the first quarter when Leonard was jogging to the other side of the floor and Manu got on his ass to get the ball and finish off the quarter. That's what veteran leadership is all about.
Yup. Timmy did the same thing in the playoffs game 2 against LA last year. Timmy basically called an ISO for Kawhi. Late in the fourth.

    Would Tony ever do that?

He's been diving on the floor for loose balls, making clutch points, and generally raising havoc against the other team when on the court. Lots of vets still try to shoot the ball as it is probably the easiest thing to do while on the court for a few minutes, but I don't remember seeing many aging vets at the end of their careers who were still playing with this enthusiasm and leadership. You can count them on one hand--Magic, Bird, Jordan, Havilcek, ????

    that sequence at 1:06

an underrated key for Kawhi to take it to another level, especially in post-TD/Manu Spurs, is to develop an appropriate ego..at this point, the way he is shooting, he shouldn't be any bashful about embracing things like occasional "heat check" sequence..obviously that goes with his improvement in other areas like ball handling/penetration in order to be able to call his number..Manu won't be here for long to be in his ear..

Great, didn´t see it during the game.

    Tnx for pointing it out.

To bad Manu doesn´t want to be a coach.

Top 5 scorer tonight, in under 20 mins... hit timely 3s to keep us in the game, and still not 100% in shape...

Amazing he can still get it done at 38 years old, tbh, if he gets back in rhythm by the playoffs, watch out...

1 less than Kawhi, 1 more than Diaw, TD, TP and LMA... yeah, we all like 0 TOs, but it wasn't too terrible... on the other hand, we don't win without his 9 pts tonight

He is finished with the ball in his hand. Strictly a shooter now

I'd rather watch 8 mile 100 times than the super cut of his passes into traffic

One of the best passers ever, tbh. He takes risks. Sometime it doesn't work.

Good game from Manu (& Porky tbh). He also bodied up Shaun Livingston which was nice to see. Can always count on Ginobili to not back down tbh.....

I think he's better playing off the ball at this point. I kind if agree he is scary with the ball trying to drive or passing against a good defensive team almost as much as Danny, who also made some clutch baskets tonight BTW.

But he's getting his rhythm back barely and I do think we need whatever he has to give at this point.

Some quotes from Manu after the game:

    - "It was an important game, but the result doesn't mean anything. We're two evenly matched teams"

    - "It's good for us to keep winning and getting ready for the playoffs, which is what's important. That's where things matter"

Like I said, top 5 scorer tonight... we don't win without his 9 points, 50+% shooting...

He's going to get the minutes and the role off the bench, tbh, if you're a Spursfan, you want him to get to 100% soon... our chances increase exponentially when he's playing well.

There's a lot of things that went into the win but it's a little naive to think the Spurs couldn't grab another two points somewhere along the way to offset Manu's 3-5 shooting if he didn't take a shot. I'm more concerned with his assist totals since his return.... 9 assists/12TO's I don't think the Spurs can win a 'ship with that kind of production coming off the bench.

I don't know about that. The bench, with Boris starting, really gave us very little tonight, he ended up leading the scoring off the bench by a wide margin (the next guy was Patty with 3 points). It was uncharacteristic since Patty and West normally gives us more, but I'm glad Manu stepped up. I actually liked the fact he picked his spots for scoring and was judicious with his shots.

He's been out for a month, and he's no spring chicken at 38, I think it's more than understandable that he's going to be off his game for a while... his shot-making was even more impressive due that, tbh.

That's actually why I think we're going to see less rest from him from here on out. We definitely need him to get back into shape. LaMarcus was pointing out a couple days ago how much easier the game is for him with Manu out there, I'm sure everybody on the team want him to be at 100% by the time the playoffs roll around.

He kinda was over the place with his PnR and Pop game tonight. Great contribution from the three ball though.
