While it would by hypocritical to blast ESPN for some of the things they say, then cling like gospel to others, however with recent good play it appears that LMA has joined the 'mythical' top 10 players in the league discussion. Sort of like pound for pound it is hard to quantify but it is a great le to hold. I am just pleased that now the Spurs can join the Thunder as teams with two such players on their roster. I know some Dubs will be upset but Raymond and Klay are in the top 15 (ESPN's MVP ladder) but we are talking top 10 right now.
I am happy that is being thought of in that way. Good for the team as far as team perception is concerned. The top 6 seems kind of universally accepted, Steph, Kiwi, LBJ, KD, Russ, CP3. You get debate on the bottom 4 but I am glad that LMA is a strong part of that debate. When mentioning the Thunder they always say, you always have to consider them since they have two of the top 5 players in the league, it will be nice to hear them say the same thing about the Spurs having two of the top 10. But unlike the Thunderrefs they also have Hall of famers and one of the top list of complementary players in the league.

I could see LMA making 2nd team All-NBA, which is approximately top 10 (you could have guards on the 3rd team who are better than some bigs on the 2nd).

He is. He could make a case as a top 3 big since Blake was injured, Raymond is a fraud, etc etc.

His ability to put up 20 automatically is under appreciated here, as is his defense.

Aldridge is playing for a great team but all his advanced meteics suggest he is a mediocre player. His rpm is average. Worp is average. Win shares average...

He really isnt any better than someone like Millsap in terms of value.

Well deserved. Him stepping up without Tim, Manu and without Kawhi a few games showed that he's really become what we hoped and expected of him. There were too many games post ASB that we would not have won if he didn't show up.
. Much better defensively too than ppl thought and him developing into a small balk center has made us very versatile. Offensively he stepped up his game as he became more comfortable and has dominated.

    I love LMA.

Frankly put Raymond in any other team and he's not the same guy. LMA can do what he does anywhere.

"top 20 for sure though", "but all his advanced metrics suggest he is a mediocre player" . . . which one is it?

As far as the article, I don't see why it's a big deal. Overall, he's more in the 15-20 range, but players in and even after that range, can play at a top 10 level for stretches.

There probably isn't any difference between #7 - #15 but when in Portland I thought of him as good (if not better) than Dame and now Dame is constantly thought of in that 7-15 range. I am sure LMA gets some rub for being on a winner. If the Dubs were just mediocre I am sure Raymond wouldn't be thought of in the top 25 because what he does isn't easily measured.

just thought about it, coz of the Rose-rule-situation.

Would Davis have been on one of the All NBA Teams?

Was for forwards there are Kawhi, LeBron, Durant, George, Green as sure shots...L-Train vs Brow could have been interesting.

Hes a top 20 player only because his offensive responsibility is huge for a team that relies on post ups. I'm just saying that for a player with his responsibility, hes advanced metrics is so average to below average...its hard to make an argument for him in the 10-15 range.

Right, but this is a weekly ranking. Like I said, as a top 20 player, he's capable of playing at a top 10 level for stretches.

It's not hard to make an argument for him around 15, when there's only probably about 12, give or take, that are clearly better.

It's a ulative ranking. Speaking of these rankings tgat are ulative, it's a huge negative on guys who just play consistently good or great...

He was average before he delete his social media accounts. Since then he has been as good as Anthony Davis who is actually having a down year.

Pop actually stated that Tim getting the knee injury helped usher Lamarcus into his own bc he was the only true big and he had to step up. Before then he was too respectful and deferential to Tim and that was clearly not what we needed. I am paraphrasing but he's not the same player now, that he was earlier in the season, and as we know in the Spurs there is no stat whoring. He was perfectly fine putting up mediocre stats when we were winning although Pop and everyone knew we were not going far unless he stepped up, so I do think his stats are actually not very reflective of his most current level of play or even what he's capable of, which is why his stats may say 10-15, but he's capable of playing much better when you need him.

    I repeat, well deserved.
