Houston doesnt bother me anymore
I see a lot of talk about meeting the Warriors in the WCF and even OKC in the 2nd round (assuming they make it that far), but so far I haven't seen any discussion about the 1st round. First round match-up can be important because either there's danger (I don't think that's the case this year) or it can set the tone for the whole postseason (e.g. Dallas in 2014).
Knowing that the 4 top seeds are set, how do you think the bottom 4 will look like at the end of the season? Which team will be left out? Which match-up would you favor?
How it looks now:
#5 Memphis: it doesn't matter if it's an easy series for the Clippers, as we need the Clippers fresh to give the Warriors their best effort.
#6 Portland: could they beat OKC?
#7 Dallas: good for us, short travel, good sparing partner with Carlisle at the helm, exactly like in 2014
#8 Utah: a team that's surging late, could push the Warriors a bit
I like these rankings. I want to avoid Houston if possible, as any team that plays 8 against 5 can always be an issue. And I wouldn't mind seeing Harden and Howard missing the playoffs. Dallas seems like the perfect first round opponent for us, and even if Memphis drops in the rankings, I don't see them dropping all the way to #7. The Warriors having to play Utah or Houston is probably the best we can hope for at this stage.
Houston doesnt bother me anymore
I just want the least physical team. Let's get to the 2nd round 100% healthy.
I see Memphis falling to 7. With all of the injuries they won't win many remaining games.
Prediction:
5-Blazers
6- Rockets
7-Grizz
8-Jazz
I want no part of Dallas in the first round. Zaza started trying to hurt people after just a few minutes. Do you people really want him to get 4-7 games worth of chances to "accidentally" roll up on people's legs or give "good, hard playoff fouls" when the Spurs are in in the air? Let him beat the out of the Warriors.
Exactly what I was thinking. I want no part of that s . Not sure if Dallas will get in anyway. They have some remaining tough games.
I do not like us to face the Jazz ... always tough playing in Utah
I don't understand why people are hanging on to the fear of them tbh. They are awful.
Dallas or Houston in the first round ideally imo
Yeah actually dont want dallas more even if they suck since they might hurt our players
It's not about fear, it's just that you know the refs will keep them in games and Harden can always have a great night when everything goes in. That would just make the series unecessarily longer.
Don't care if it's a sweep, I want Houston to play GSW so Beverly can harass Curry every minute of every game.
Rockets & HardenRefs are actually a good warmup series for ThundeRefs/WestBrick. Spurs will take them seriously like the 2014 Blazers b/c they have historically been a matchup problem unlike the Mavs whom the team won't take serious thus lead to a bored Kawhi & dribble/dribble Tony.
The only team Timmay hasn't beaten in the playoff series are the Rockets & I'm pretty sure that's on his bucket list. Kawhi/Danny also need to avenge what Harden did to them in the 2012 series.
Travel is also a non issue b/c it will be in tornado alley.
Not caring so much who we play...but, who we play against who we play.
It's going to be very interesting to watch what POP does with our lineups. In the Big Three era, you just knew who would be going in when and why, who would be starting, who would be coming off the bench, etc. This year and with our current roster, trying to figure out what POP is gonna do or what he is doing can be a mystery.
If we win this year, it will be one of the greatest coaching jobs of all time. If we lose, he'll probably get more of the blame too. This is POP's year and team...good or bad.
Memphis would be the easiest and it isn't out of the question their death spiral lands them at 7. It'd be nice to see Tim and Dirk once more. Houston is a wild card because they are awful
due to chemistry not talent.
We won't likely face Blazers who are going to be 5th or 6th seed (already 2 games up Jazz/DAL/Hou and they play 4 of last 6 games at home with sacramento the other away game)..Don't see Memphis falling to 7th as Clippers will tank them a game and they will win may be another one.. I think Utah are better than both Dallas/Houston--and if we take short travel-- it is no brainer a 1st round series vs Texas opponent is the best option barring a total collapse of Grizzlies.
I honestly think that there is only one team that could beat the Spurs in a series this year. My first thought was that Carlisle knows that the Mavs can't win, but he's a sorry enough bas to do whatever he could to wear the Spurs down for the second round. Not to try and win the series, but just to with Pop and the Spurs.
I hadn't even thought about Pachulia. That dirty makes me wish we still had Baynes. Yeah, he's capable of taking cheap shots. And I think Carlisle is sorry enough to encourage it.
No... we must avoid the Grizzlies at all costs this season.![]()
Lets go Blazers

For real. The Spurs should have swept the season series if not for the Christmas game fluke. Also would be a good warm up for Danny because he has looked like LDN against Houston this season. Not to mention, Aldridge feasts on Houston as well.
Easiest to toughest:
1. Grizzlies (highly unlikely, but they're so depleted that the Spurs could rest players against them)
2. Jazz
3. Rockets
4. Mavs
5. Blazers
Tbh though, the Spurs shouldn't have to worry too much about any of these teams.
I want the Blazers. Damian Lillard is the closest thing in the NBA to Steph Curry right now, and figuring out how to guard him will help us with the Warriors down the road.
Anyone but Houston.
I don't want Houston.
Not a bad way to look at things but its highly unlikely they drop to 7th. They will play LA in the 4th vs 5th matchup. I wouldnt mind the rockets. I hope the Jazz get 6th.
Spurs want the Jazz. Let them get to 7th seed
