Not going to take this game seriously after 3rd quarter.. Pop wasn't clearly as he went down with Bonner for first 6 minutes of 4th....

Because we didn't really want to win.
Houston now has a shot at the 7 seed, which even as discombobulated as they are, can present matchup problems and also wear our bigs out dealing with Howard.
Yeah, see my other thread "CIA Pop or dbag Pop"...
It's not even us letting them back into the game that pissed me off. It's how we played in the last 2-3 minutes. I get that we were trying to run off clock, but just handing the ball to Parker and letting him dribble for 20 seconds over and over again is embarrassing. I don't think that's on Pop.
It's a meaningless game so it doesn't really matter...I just hope that never happens in the playoffs. If we have a single digit lead on GS and we just let Parker dribble for the last 2 minutes of the game, we'll end up losing by double digits.
Don't wanna keep harping on det one thing, tbh... some peeps might think I'm a Parker hater or something...
This team is the exact opposite of what they used to be down the stretch of close games, particularly on the road. They're not poised at all; they're a flustered mess, that almost always looks unsure of themselves.
They're lucky they'll have home court and the Thunder are also terrible offensively down the stretch of close games, or they probably wouldn't even make the WCF.
It's the same old that's been going on for two years. They labor offensively, on the road, against solid or better teams.
Not playing Ginobili in the fourth was one of the dumbest things he's done in recent memory. It's as if he's just decided he's not using him or Duncan down the stretch of close games anymore, no matter the situation.
I know Pop is not that dumb, tbh... he was trying something there... not sure what exactly...
Somehow, 2 years of evidence, that this team is atrocious offensively, on the road, against solid or better teams, is completely disregarded, because almost everything is chocked up to "CIA Pop".
Manu closed games on the road even this season... this game looked like a stinker from Pop in the 4th and I have no clue why, that's why I made that other thread...
I just can't think he's that dumb, there's gotta be something else going on, that's why I ask.
Since him and Duncan have come back from injury, he's gone away from them in these situations. Early on, I thought it was just because it made sense, given the way some of those games were going. Now, it's clearly shtick.
Maybe he's looking at who else steps up in the clutch? I mean, he threw this game away. We should've been easily up 20 midway through the 4th.... at least I hope he can see now that Bonner is completely done, in case he had any doubts.
If he intended to primarily close with them, Parker, Leonard and Aldridge, wouldn't he be trying to have that unit build chemistry in those situations?
He didn't throw away. He did his usual shtick bull , where he does random, inexplicable things. Even if you believe otherwise, what about the first 3 quarters? It was the same old . They can't score, on the road, against solid or better teams.
"Something just feels off"
Could you be any more ambiguous? Basically that means you dont know what the youre talking about. In 2014, it was "not enough star power." Now we have two top 10 players and it's "not enough team balance."
off.
Why do the Warriors carry themselves like they're the ones with the Spurs pedigree and the Spurs carry themselves like they're the ones with the Warriors pedigree?
They just have more talent than us. Our wing/guard rotation is utter offensively after Kawhi. All the Warriors have to do to stop this team is swarm LMA, let Kawhi get his 20, and it's game over, since no one else can pop off for an efficient 20 points.
Pretty pathetic showing tonight. GS is getting whatever they want with ease while our offense looks putrid.
^ this
Face it, folks...the Warriors are better than the Spurs...they just ARE. If we beat them, it's because they beat themselves.
As of today, pretty legitimate to think Clippers/OKC will put a better fight against them than we will do..
Yeah, but this isn't new. All kinds of good, random teams, have carried themselves with more swagger than this one over the years. That was the impetus for this thread. I've never understood it.
As far as the offense, they're clearly going to have to get younger and become more diversified in the off season. They lack penetration, play making and especially three-point shooting.
They're not built to come back. They get down double digits against a good team, it's a wrap.
Agreed. This incarnation of the Spurs are a good team no doubt, great even - but they are just outclassed against this Warriors team.
All our perceived advantages on paper - bench depth, front court superiority - just have not materialized in the games thus far, and it is unrealistic to expect things to suddenly change in the playoffs.
However, all our weaknesses - weakness in PG position, lack of consistent 3pt shooting, no 3rd proven scorer, decline of the old big 3 - have been exposed thus far.
I would comfortably take them against any of the 28 other teams in the League - but GS are superior right now.
That said, you never know... anything could happen!
Unnecessary bump tonight. Tonight wasn't a gutless worms game, it was an undisciplined game. Spurs played hard, but they played dumb. Combine that with the fact that LMA, Timmy, and the bench COMPLETELY the bed tonight and there you go...loss.
This had better be some CIA Pop sh**. These Oracle losses have been about poor play by the Spurs and not Warrior dominance.
so... gutless wormies?
