NBA: Free Agents: Diarrhea of the Mouth

As a Spurs fan, I respect how the organization and its players keep Free Agency an off-limits topic to the press. Today, there is an article claiming Kevin Durant is "very much" in play to leave the Thunder and another quoting Chandler Parsons as saying he is "open to a return to Houston". Parsons goes on to say that he will speak to Dwight Howard about possibly teaming up again.

Are you kidding me? All three of their respective teams are in the mix for the playoffs and stuff like this is floating out there and serving as distractions. What the ever happened to players saying they are focused on the season and will not be addressing Free Agency until the proper time? Are these guys really that stupid and inconsiderate to their teammates and employers? Do they love the press and limelight that much that they can't just say "It's not the right time to discuss free agency"?

If Durant didn't want any rumors about his free agency to spread, he'd just not talk to "his people" about it. These are most likely calculated leaks. SMH.

The Spurs wouldn't have rushed Durant back off a Jones fracture like the Thunder did. I don't blame him for wanting out, OKC cleared him to play when he obviously shouldn't have been while coming off such a serious injury and they were too cheap to keep their team together. Do you think the Thunder deserve his loyalty?

My comments aren't about their decisions to leave. It's for players not to talk about it to the press during the season. Save it for the summer. Teams can get fined for discussing potential free agents not on their roster. Players - especially Parsons, should just say "no comment".

Did Durant say anything to the press about it though? There was a lot of talk like this about Duncan to Orlando and Duncan to Chicago back in the 1999-2000 season too.

Remember when Ass Steven A Smith spouted some chit about Durant. Durant completely denied.

Did Durant say anything to the press about it though? There was a lot of talk like this about Duncan to Orlando and Duncan to Chicago back in the 1999-2000 season too.

There was speculation about Duncan done by the press but he remained tight-lipped. To the point where I was even getting nervous that he would leave. He didn't say a thing about staying or going and all we had to go on is video of him landing in Orlando. That made me sick but in hindsight, I understand him not wanting to endure the barrage of questions.

As for Durant, he's surrounded by handlers and hangers-on like Lebron. This wasn't always the case. I'm not sure if he changed his management team or agent but in the past couple of years it seems that information has leaked or flowed from his "camp". Where there is smoke, there is fire. Publicly he goes out and says one thing and then behind closed doors, information gets released to test the waters. I don't have any proof but I think that's what is happening.

The bigger offender is clearly Parsons. Man, just shut up and say "Its great to be back in Houston, I had some good years here, but I'm a Maverick now. I won't be making any comments on Free Agency until the appropriate time."
