If they dont win it all has to be the dumbest contract move in a very long time. But you know who i feel sorry for Kiwi. Kid is from SoCal ...worked to make himself a star and his #2 is a blind and crippled homeless man's Dirk.
These Spurs lucked in to a legit star but should have waited for a better #2 ...

You can't judge the validity of a move based on the result in hindsight, you have to judge it based on the reality when the choice was made.

The Spurs provided a much better chance to win a ring than the pacers, and the Spurs also allowed west to contribute to the chase of a ring. It's a great move from that perspective.

I agree, out of the teams he was considering ...the Spurs were the best choice only the Dubs could have been considered a better choice (or arguably, Cavs) ...
But to give up that much $ and still lose?! Yes you absolutely can judge it in hind-sight because many questioned the move in "fore-sight".
The only way you cannot question the move is if you praised him for making the move at the time ... I did not.
Im no millionaire so obviously that clouds my perspective ...but I thought it was to much of a risk for the chances at teh reward. I KL goes down with a major injury (for example) you dont ring and you are out over 10 million ...
I am not saying I wouldnt want a chance to win a le of course that would be a top priority but not at the type of loss he took financially ...he has made some good money in his career no doubt about it but that to me was not wise.

Spurs may still ring and then I would feel great for the man ...but if not I think he dun ed up.

That's your perspective though, and neither one of us can speak for West. Cavs could be an option, but at this point, both Spurs and Warriors have a better chance at a ring as they do. Warriors likely can't use West much and I am not sure if they pursued him at all. If West's objective is to get on a team that he can contribute to while giving him the best chance at a ring, the Spurs were pretty much his best, or even only, choice.
