Pop plays Parker like he's still in his prime, taking more shots per minute than the team leading scorer...that's the real issue.Mainly cause Pop still plays him.

Simply put, we can't win with Parker. LA-Leonard can easily be built around and can contend for years, but Parker will always be the weak link, his defense will never recover and teams will continue to attack him. Can't expect the Spurs to win when a guy they're dedicating $10-$14 mill per season isn't producing, or won't even follow a simple order like not playing for France in the summer.
They can't order him that. That's part of the CBA.

The beautiful game era was magical tbh. 2015 Spurs offense isn't even remotely close to that, even if we have more raw talent.
This isn't Pop's fault though. We don't have a consistent and elite penetrator anymore. Tony and Manu used to play that role. Now, Manu can initiate "beautiful game"-level offense maybe once every 8 or 9 possessions. Same with Tony. He doesn't have that first step to get past his defender anymore even with a competent pick.
Whatever, they got #5, everything since has been house money, tbh..
13' and 14' Spurs have a much better chance of beating this Warriors team than the current spurs team tbh

The beautiful game only works if you have the shooters and passers for it. Boris was out and guys like Danny/Patty/Manu haven't been consistent with the 3s.
The problem is the Spurs don't have a 3rd scorer that can step up if LMA or Kawhi is having an off night (maybe Parker will find the fountain of youth during the playoffs), and for whatever reason there are long stretches where Kawhi doesn't touch the ball when he is shooting well. LMA and Kawhi are the Spurs advantage, Pop just needs to utilize them to the fullest to make the game easier for the rest of the team.
I loved 2014 but this team had to be reinvented with the current personnel. No ferrari, dannyg's missing 3 point swag, a less fleet footed Duncan and some other changes have made this inevitable. You ain't gonna beat GS like that because they have the personnel to do it better then us. You are just playing into their hands if you do that.
You got to play the hand your delt. With the addition of LMA and a more physical Kawhi we have flipped back to a defense first mindset and pound downlow in the post team.
Thats why we were ousted in the first round last year. spread/motion offense only works if your ayers are draining those 3's. Danny and Patty struggled and it took us to 7 games where we eventually got buried.
Like I said Pop is using what he has. Not to say he can't shift gears if our shooters get hot.
I think the motion offense is dangerous though. I think their a physicological edge to keeping the ball moving until you get to the open man because inherently a player would subconciously think because he is open due to the "system" he feels like his shot should be good. If that makes any sense. The other thing is it encourages a rhythm and flow which players benefit from. Only thing to do is try and disrupt that so they don't get going.
The Spurs did that in their 2nd game with GS hopefully they can do it again if they meet in the playoffs.

Boris yes but the biggest name missing is Splitter. The arrival of Splitter gave us the big that could set screens and effectively roll to the rim for either a catch and score or what he was best at...catch and pass to opposite side. Prior to the arrival of Splitter, I think it was 2010 when we lost to Phoenix we had the same issue. The Suns would just sit on their man that was positioned outside the three point line. This made it difficult to score and eventually we got swept.
I thought Aldridge could be just as effective as Splitter but he is more of a pick and pop person. Hopefully with Boris back for next game and in the playoffs we can get the offense rolling again.
Pretty much how i feel.
Who knew 2 years later we would break the franchise record for most wins.
