It is the AT UDE that you are responsible for pulling yourself up - not the government.
Cost of higher education is a huge issue. Then there's getting a job after you get the education.
You have nothing specific in mind because you're clearly not in poverty.
Let me know when you've been there and dug yourself out. Then I'll listen to you talk about all the opportunities out there available to the poor.
It is the AT UDE that you are responsible for pulling yourself up - not the government.
You have Mingus' example of working/community college. Ben Carson lived in poverty in Detroit (I'm not saying everyone can become a pediatric neurosurgeon) and worked himself out of it.
Boy look how much conservatism helps out Mississippi.
My parents didn't have the benefit of education, but they worked hard. I worked hard in high school, got a scholarship and went to college. I started out with nothing and worked hard for 12 years before children. While I'm not in poverty, I'm always looking for ways to earn extra money so that I can stay at home with my kids. Should people just whine and complain about their lot in life or try to do something to improve that lot? Some things work, some don't - that's the risk you take.
working wonders in Kansas as well.
We have been doing it Reagan's way for 35 years now and the country is a mess. But we need more conservatism.

You're response works in light of me not explain myself a bit better: I mean conservative in a theoretical, non-racially driven sense. You know, more
than either just a label taken by many White Southerners solely to segregate themselves from Blacks, or the result of the social-racial-economic wasteland
caused by slavery, share-cropping & Jim Crow. Labels get misappropriated and distorted to the point where their actual meaning gets completely lost
in a high pile . The same can be said for socialism.
The statement without further explanation sounds re ed, but I just figured that by inference you would make sense of it as easily as I'd make sense of Venezuela, North Korea, or Cuba not being exemplary of socialism.
So the no true Scotsman?
Remember how every conservative media outlet, politician, and Internet message board participant have always said Kansas and Mississippi aren't the models for conservative governing?
Huh? No, I conceded that there can be a racially driven component of conservatism (depending on the context). And, liberalism, in certain contexts, exists along side & in support of racism and discrimination, too. Both words are relative & dependent on context for meaning.
You going and picking out states that are a particular type of conservative & and citing them in support of your argument is, fart whiffing. They are conservatives whose principle values & outlook I don't give much validity to.
Stories about niggers buying Cadillacs with welfare checks is one of the bedrocks of modern conservatism. I liked your point that only conservatives work hard.
What's so hard to understand that I don't agree with them? That that's not the brand of conservatism I'm talking about?
Well the OP is.
Turns out the black girl and the white girl with her elbow on her head are sisters...![]()
Oh bull , Reagan's welfare queens driving Cadillacs story is the justification for cutting the safety net.
You're attributing things that aren't conservative, or that are conservative cir stantially, to conservatism, the theory, under which their are different types of conservatism. It'd be like me calling out liberalism for Clinton's growing of prison industrial complex. I'm a liberal-conservative mix. Liberal on some things, and conservative on others. But definitely more conservative, yet still liberal on some of the things conservativism, in really any of its mainstream forms right now in the country, has utterly failed to address.
I actually agree with most of what you've said here. I never suggested conservatism was the cure all to any and every every of the country's problems. In so far as climbing one's way out of poverty tho, I think it's a better outlook to have.
I don't think the ad is racist for the record.
