No silver linings in this one, the downward spiral continues for the rest of the year.
We saw LMA can play. LMA saw he can play.
KL struggled. KL usually puts in overtime in the gym and gets right when he struggles in a game.
TD didn't play at all.
Tony was visibly pissed off. We need Tony to be interested in basketball, not mailing it in.
Danny Green is exposed on offense, no longer just a slump, and must either spend every day in the gym with a shooting coach or expect to see his minutes cut next season.
This wasn't the playoff version of the Spurs (we hope).
Hopefully GS gets the record and feels confident and y and some 1st round team does to them what they did to Dallas a few years ago.
Not much else positive, should have rested our starters.
No silver linings in this one, the downward spiral continues for the rest of the year.
Sorry but we don't have a single player who will show up every night against GS. LMA was solid tonight but we've also seen the other side of it. Kawhi can't dominate against this team. Our only hope of a mismatch is Diaw and he's not someone I expect to have a fantastic game everytime in a series which is what the Spurs will definitely need.
What about Tissot? Give him the green light, he'll damn sure take it.
Tissot
We need to be thinking 1st round. There's a lot of games to play before we ever see GS again.
Kawhi will be fine. Danny is a COWARD...Period!!!!! He should be sent home in his jersey and not allowed to enter the dressing room ever again!
I'm not going to rule the Spurs out until I see how they do in the first two rounds (assuming we even get to the conference finals). Still time for Green to get his head of his ass
lol this team should think about getting out of the 1st round first. Gonna be depressing if they get bounced again
Kawhi will always struggle against the Warriors. The entire Spurs team will. All their balls shrink up when they play Golden State. The Spurs are over. It's done.
I don't see how this is a blessing disguise. The Warriors will have a huge psychological edge against us in the playoffs.
What the is this
Romo wasn't injured so why the are you trying to blatantly copy my thread?????????????????????????????
Just stop. They clowned us. Our guards are a laughingstock.
Their worst shots resemble our best best shots.
That's what I was thinking the ONE TIME Barnes had to make a long two.
Draymond has a crazy effective late jump-contest that makes it very very tough for LMA and there is just nothing indicating that he'll efficient over a series against them.
We need to find something that works on offense.
We do pretty good on defense, considering this is the greatest offense ever that we're up against, at least whenever we don't have his slowness Kyle or his uselessness Kevin Martin in the game.
Even sometimes with Parker we play good D. At least until they start picking on him, and he should see his minutes cut.
There are players you just can't play against Warriors and Pop needs to have a very short leash with these liabilities.
Via reddit:
Curry was transcendent tonight.
Nevertheless this was a really good game for the Spurs. There was a lot of experimentation going on behind the scenes with Pop that I feel like a lot of people missed out on.
-He got to see how Martin plays with extended minutes at the 2 as opposed to Green, so essentially he got to see what the dropoff was in regards to defense versus the advantage Martin provides offensively.
-He saw a lot of David West and Aldridge as the primary frontcourt pairing, in the playoffs I imagine West and Diaw will split most of the load. Diaw is really going to be an x-factor for the Spurs.
-I think this game confirmed that the Spurs just matchup a lot better against the Dubs without Duncan. He's obviously still going to play if these two teams meetup in the playoffs, but Pop is going to have to be very strategic about what lineups he plays him in/when he plays
-We saw the Spurs go ultra-big against the small-ball lineup with Aldridge and Boban on the floor for quite a few minutes. It wasn't as bad as I thought but Boban hurts you on the defensive end so much
-Mills and Parker shared the court for quite a while late in the 3rd, which is something that has almost never happened this season. I think those two are way too small on the defensive end so when Mills isn't hitting his shots, like he wasn't tonight, it's really hard to play them like that
-Aldridge looked really ing good tonight, those back-to-back late game possessions where they used him as a screener deep in the paint and had him drop back for the open jumper are exactly how he hurts the Warriors the most. I'm expecting to see more sets like that in the playoffs.
Pretty nice takes. Still, our backcourt (Tony, Danny and Mills) has been offensively against the Worriers.
I think you mean Exclamation marks!!!!!
If i were the Spurs i would put Chip to work on Danny Tony and Patty 24/7 until the second round begins.
Great analysis. I'm sure Pop is currently finalizing his strategy over how he'll approach the Warriors in the playoffs. I knew something was up when we had our second-string team playing extended minutes into the 4th tonight.
TBH, after 5, I don't get too high or too low on this team. They are what they are. Win or lose, there are a couple of dozen other NBA teams that would trade places with the Spurs in a microsecond.

Anger and embarrassment are good motivators. The Spurs offense has been missing since the first quarter of the Charlotte game. Just be healthy and playing well by the next matchup.
He was experimenting because he still doesn't have a clue on playoff rotations. He's usually done experimenting by mid March. There's three days left in the regular season and he's still searching for answers.
That's because we normally stand pat at the deadline. This year we picked up two players who could really help during some big moments. Pop needs to find a way to get them involved or at least see how they do. The last time we brought in a guy who took over on offense was when we drafted Tim Duncan. Having LMA doing that now in year 1 requires group lock step to avoid costly mistakes and for everyone else to alter their roles from the high speed ball movement model to the hybrid post up game we're seeing now. It's not easy. If it was 28 other teams would be doing it.
Exactly- I don't think we'll see Kevin Martin playing the entire 4th quarter in the playoffs.
