Simmons won't be on the playoff roster tbh.
Playoff roster that you're taking about doesn't exist anymore. They just have to be playoff eligible.

Spurs in 4 and should embarrased if they don't blow them out a couple of times...This series could see the first time a coach pull a "DNP-rest" in the playoffs

Rest LA a game to get his finger less swollen. When I dislocated my finger I couldn't do for like 2 weeks. Couldn't shoot a ball without excruciating pain.

I'm not sure it's even possible to have a dislocation like LMA's without ligament damage and/or some micro-fracturing. The discomfort is going to plague him, probably into the second round. He played almost 20 minutes against OKC, but then spent the second half in the locker room. I wouldn't mind seeing him sit out the first game. But I would be surprised to see him get more than that 20 minutes for at least the first couple. I don't think the Spurs need it to beat Memphis, and the Spurs will really need him close to 100% the rest of the way.

Just focus on the opponent at hand and win then worry about the next

I heard that he had reached the minutes played the coaching staff wanted for him. The plan was to sit him after that.

Would say 4-0 but I'm not sure who has the coaching advantage.

I hope our bench energy guys (Boban, Jonny Simmons, KA, Miller) are allowed to contribute.
If Tim is having a Timmy Clunkin night then give 'Bobs 30 minutes.
If Parker goes into Porker mode bench him. One can dream.

Resting Aldridge a game would be stupid. A couple of days aren't going to heal it, he might as well get used to playing with it tbh. He played through a significant wrist injury last season....

Spurs don't need to rest anyone. Just blow out Memphis early on and rest guys then, much like how we've performed at home all season.

happy to play the grizzles instead of the mavs. we'll have more leeway to figure out our rotation.

Probably true. But ligaments do benefit from rest. Mostly, I'd hate to see him get a second jam.

Lots of people here like to talk tough about playing through pain. (Not you, but lots of others.) It's harder than they think - especially with finesse actions like shooting. The subconscious brain will flinch, no matter how tough you are. And it only takes a bit to throw off a shot.

I think you're right, and he could play. The luxury of getting this ruined Memphis squad in the first round is that I don't think they will need him much - and really not for long minutes. I'd take advantage of that.

Spurs will drop a game in Memphis and the Grizz played them tough twice over the past month or so.

The sooner the Spurs can beat the Grizz and rest up for Memphis and prepare for OKC the better.

What a contrast vs. last year

2015 Clippers SRS: 4.35(#5 in the NBA)
2016 Grizzlies SRS: -2.05(#21 in the NBA)

This year's 5 seed is worse than last year's 8 seed by a decent margin, too..bye round for the top 4 seeds, barring injuries..

Damn, and the Spurs path was so brutal last year. Grizzlies/Thunder >>>> Clippers/Rockets last season.

I can't remember a worse 1st round opponent in the West in terms of talent than this depleted Grizz..I'm sure there were a bunch of awful teams in the East this century..

Curry and Thompson played the entire first quarter against Memphis. Ima laugh my ass off if they lose one of those guys trying to set a regular season record.
What is it with spurs fans thinking players will get injured all the time? Coach Pop has really messed with your heads.
