    It's ridiculous some of the bs Kawhi gets called for when guarding these guys. I think in the home loss against the Warriors there was one play where Kawhi had a clean block on Curry but was called for a foul. I have seen Kawhi get legit steals or blocks against superstar players and still get called for phantom bs.

    Boiled down, Kawhi is the best defensive player on the team with the best defense in the league that also had the biggest improvement in defense from last year.

    Spurs improved their defensive efficiency by a whopping 3 points over last year, while Golden State went backwards by 2 points.

    GS is still a very good defensive team (especially when paired with that offense) but that is why I never understood the sentiment that Draymond was going to get a "makeup" DPOY. He was still a top defender, but didn't do better than last year, while Kawhi did just as good pretty much (and carried a big offensive load as well as Draymond).

    How is the number of 30 point games Kawhi's had relevant to him being DPOY?

    And if the best player on the best team is MVP (Curry) then the best defender on the best defensive team is DPOY (Kawhi, though Timmy is still damn good).
