He'd likely be dead by then, and so will you and I, unless we live to be 120.
Kool, why do you have to be so stupid? Honestly - why?
He'd likely be dead by then, and so will you and I, unless we live to be 120.
No. It's contingent on ratings. With Kobe, they still made money hand over fist - despite 3 straight lotto teams. Kobe's retired now. Time for them to put together a competent squad, or lose the rest of the $5B deal.
This summer will be interesting, to say the least.
You shouldn't back this. DeRozan is no game changer, and you basically have the same player in Jordan Clarkson, who will cost a whole lot less.
There's no quick FA fixes for the Lakers right now. You first need to build up that youth core to a decent team who can win 30-35 games, and THEN pursue the big name FAs who can take that core to the next level. See how the Lakers developed Eddie Jones, Van Exel, Elden Campbell first, and then landed Shaq.
Bringing a marquee FA now will just further stunt the development of your youth.
you mean retired/dead?
dont be done Amb.
It may take 5 or even 10 but not over 80 years (well at least for me )
Mid i agree with you 100%,
My fear is the Lakers Front office and fanbase wont agree ...
Hopefully those guys turn us down again.
Again DD Whiteside and even Barnes to a lessor extent scream Greg Monroe most likely Hayward at best type signings.
I pray keeping the pick forces us to remain cautious with our spending ...
But if we lose it we will double down on a DD whiteside poo-poo platter ...
wont win a le barely make the playoffs (at best) and get swept by the Spurs or the State ...
I do not co-sign Dd, whiteside nor even Barnes at max money.
Only reason I consider Barnes is he has championship experience is still young and he can defend.
hje is overrated on defense and is not a great playmaker but he is a young proven 3 and D starter with upside.
Stop it.
In all seriousness though. The only FA that could really make a material impact this year is Durant, and even Durant, pre-injury, in his prime, with Westbrook, couldn't get a le, I am not sure how Durant, post-injury, slightly past his prime, can lead a worse team in Lakers to anything. You can blame Brooks all you want, but Scott is way worse as a coach.
^I'm quite surprised I didn't catch this bull earlier....I guess my mid bull radar needs cleaning
Let Kool break it down for you...you tried hard I give you credit but you have blinders on while at the same time engaged in double speak but you can't slide your bull past Kool...
We're not in a position to build up a core more suited to role playing with the exception of Randle....you bash our core relentlessly now you want us to wait 3-4 yrs to build them up to 30 games...without an old and broken down Kobe we win 5 games tops...this core is not athletic enough but more importantly will never play defense ...
So we cannot wait...Mitch is not a good talent evaluator nor do we have in place a system to develop guys....and stop trying to compare landing the Most Dominate Big of our era (Shaq) paired with gods son (Kobe)...under the tutelage of Dr. Buss and Jerry West with the situation today...Van Exell and Eddie Jones were already established All-d bona-fide top talents and all nba guys who were great defensively and All-stars after 2-3 yrs in...Russell and Clarkson are not that potential....
So the point of bringing in Derozan at just under the max is obviously not a linear move...it means you plan to bring in other top talent to maximize VALUE...get it?
We did the cap space wait game..Kobe is gone...most of the trash contracts are gone..NBA money and cap space for teams has gone up...why wait 3-4 more years once all the good to great players are maxed out with only a marginal talent pool left? A marginal talent pool to cherry pick from to add to a current roster that every knows has a ceiling of very good role players at best... you've said it yourself many many times as you've bashed these guys day in and day out....
The right move is for the Lakers to hire a new younger college aged coach or Jeff Van Gundy since he's no nonsense and really knows the ing game and has a keen pulse on talent and player development...get out of his way get hide Mitch and Jim in a closet and let Jeff work his magic....bring in Derozan or Harrison Barnes and 2 other positional stars ( such as Durant and Whiteside) to play with either of them and since we currently have favorable rookie scale contracts keep our rookies who show promise and let them develop real time by playing with very good to great and already established players..that is how you develop talent....make them better through their teammates while they win so that their confidence sky rockets....either they will bubble up and replace the stars as they age or they will be exposed as garbage...but you don't allow them to keep putting up 5-10 win seasons thinking they're getting better under the tutelage of Byron / Jim / and Kupchak while what little confidence they have continues to erode because they continue to lose...
Its simple like I said this is the ideal prescription for success not that bull that you and DPG keep spamming threads with
But I get it..you represent the Spurs anything to keep Laker fan down right ? Even if it means being a wolf in sheepskin...you know Kool aint wit det![]()

At least you have players who want to play and dont hate each other tbh.
Absolutely. I hate it, but it is what it is. DeRozan is not that good IMO.
Id love watching Kawhi dominate him for a decade.
Guys wont understand this until they see whiteside and Derozan making 25 mil, getting gentlemen swept in the first round.
During Tuesday’s show of ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith claimed DeRozan has made it very clear he wants to come to Los Angeles this summer:
“He’s made it very, very clear that he wants to be in L.A.,” Smith said of DeRozan’s intentions in free agency. “He has family out there. He’s from out there. He wants to be in L.A."
Djohn why do you keep raining on my parade?!
OK, lets say we sign DD we dont re-sign Clarkson?
DD will make more $ is older and not a better 3pt shooter.
IF we lose the pick make a strong pitch for Barnes ...just not a max deal...
Now that we have Luke someone that knows his system makes a great deal of sense
DD makes little sense to me ...
ha I just said the same thing ... but I still wouldnt pay him max ...
Im just saying, do you Trust Jim Buss to make the right decision?![]()
They just want a name I would think. Having missed out on guys in free agency, they aren't patient. You are right DD makes zero sense for them but Mitch had said they were going to try and build through Free Agency too. Gotta keep in mind Jim's clock is running out.
I still trust Mitch .... but it's wavering with the coaching hires (pre-Luke)
For me the pick is the key.
If we keep it not sure what the rush is to sign big names ...
What we would need are proven still young vets that play defense
Luke has a system?
