Youve misidentified corporate greed as proactive. Thats actually a reaction to so many casuals jumping on the steph/GSW bandwagon. Simple lowest common denominator type marketing.
CROFL.."Nothin' but Steph" tab on their NBA section..Gotta love when corporate media (and who behind them)-- not only in sport-- doesn't give pretense of objectivity any more....

Why are spursfan mad of this? Espn is a businnes thats milking its biggest nba cash cow.
Would do the same thing![]()
They did the same thing with Miami.
Who cares? Hopefully they can update it with a WCF loss piece.
just pointing it out..i thought they would be less vulgar with it
but at least, folks can't cry tin-foil conspiracist whenever someone calls out their bias should the Warriors get beneficial treatment and the network put the work to sweep it under the rug..wouldn't be surprised if directives to Jeff Van Gundy to stop talking about moving screens/Kawhi ref disrepect have already been issued.
^^^ It changes from team to team, now it's the W's. In the 00's it was LA mostly. All the media groupies get paid to jock a team and all root for the same teams, they are paid well to do it.
After the WCF they'll have to change it to "Nuthin' For Steph"![]()
This is what is actually bothersome. Worst case, you want the commentators to call out the refs.
If the Spurs beat the Warriors, they can just insist on the Warriors errors or introduce a "they beat themselves" narrative, discuss how the Warriors can come back from that, talk about Steph, etc.
At least that seemed to be the case when Lebron had playoffs losses.
Used to be the Heat Check or something. Not at all surprised. I say power to them. Talking down the ratings in 2007 didn't do their parent company any good, so hopefully they have a backup plan if the Spurs manage to get past the Dubs.

Forecast for June 2014: BLIZZARD![]()
I heard they have an ankle health meter on that tab.
A lot of fans, that's who.
ESPN doesn't exist to be balanced, they exist to make money. They know exactly what they're doing. Pandering works.
Why? Is it going to help them win another championship? Spurs have never had that crap and they have been doing pretty well the past 20 years or so.
So they're marketing the 2 time reigning MVP, champ and 73 game winner.
The fiends.
Sports fans are a captive audience. They don't give a about clicks from you and me, because they get them no matter what. It's all the casual fans who start tuning in that are their cash cow, and those people only follow the flavor of the month.
You would think that back to back DPOY would trump all of that.
They crawled all up Tiger Woods' ass, too. And Ronda Rousey's. It doesn't seem to be helping those two very much. As long as the league doesn't put them down on the court with whistles, I don't give a rat's ass who ESPN roots for.
Lot of kids like Eliancito. He's the representative of their self-obsessed, delusional, soft generation tbqh
One of the unintentionally funny things about the rise of Steph Curry is watching LeBron get jealous and act catty like the class beauty queen when a newer prettier girl joins the class. LBJ has always been respectful to the older generation of greats he's played against (Duncan, Kobe) but he acts completely threatened when someone brings up a "new" great who is younger than him. Earlier this season a reporter asked him about Kawhi's progression and LBJ went out of his way to say something dismissive like "everyone improves, why ask me about him?" Wish I had that video. Too funny.
Who says ESPN is objective? Their supreme financial interests are readily apparent.
