How much is this change going to cost? Maybe we ought to concentrate on important topics like jobs and our $19 trillion debt instead of whose face is on what bill. Same with the transgender topic - how much of the population does this affect? I really don't care what law is passed or not passed - I'm gonna use my common sense and not go into/send my daughter into any bathroom that has any male-looking person in it - just wait until said person comes out or find another bathroom.
Moar tax cuts will bring that debt down

You do realize they're not pulling the Jackson 20's out of circulation, right? You do realize that we reprint currency all the time, right?

The stages of conservative reaction to this:

    - Whatever, I don't care
    - This is unnecessary and irrelevant, just catering to political correctness
    - What is this going to cost taxpayers? Don't we have more important things to spend our money on?
    - Stop trying to erase history!
    - Stop criticizing me for voicing my opinion! Chilling effect!!

Don't you mean that THEY just print MORE money all the time.

As far as tax cuts, I'll hazard that I could invest my social security money and get more than whatever IOU they put in my name or what little I'll get by the time I reach retirement age if they do nothing to up the age. I'm more interested in them cutting spending than tax cuts.

Don't know why any conservative would object to a deeply religious, gun-toting Republican replacing a founder of the Dem party.

Of course she was a Republican, back then they weren't the party of the slave states like they are now.

I like to think I would have been a Republican too back then. Now? Not so much.

I don't dispute what the tattoo says. But I do dispute that it makes sense for him to have one.

It's a very empty criticism. Like if your family got rich because your great ancestor was a pirate lord, are you going to give back all the money? If not, does it really matter if you "sharply criticize" what your ancestor did?

    All right.

Didn't have to look for a good one. I would have taken a Wiki article.

Indeed, I do. cd021, I apologize for calling you out. I was mistaken. As for you Shastafarian, I admit you were right, and I appreciate you informing me of where I was wrong. And I'm being honest. I'd rather come out of here knowing I was wrong and "losing" than thinking I was right just because I "won".
Alright I apologize then for being so crass. I read you wrong. To civil debates in the future

And what about all the vending machines, ATMs, self-service registers, etc that have to be changed/altered to read these new bills?

I don't care whose face is on which bill, but don't pretend that there aren't REAL costs to this change and for what purpose? Can't they find some other way to honor her without affecting every single machine in the country that deals with cash.

Lol. Andrew Jackson killed the Bank of the United States....postponing the current banking run the world lives in that the left loves to complain about. If the left had any brains at all they would love Andrew Jackson, yet they hate him. You really can't get much stupider than that.

If you think I'm joking, remember, they were going to replace Hamilton off the ten dollar bill but all the directors of the Fed got the panties in a bunch at the thought of their God being taken off the money.

Please go find links that "every single machine in the country" will have to be changed.

Won't all cash machines have to be changed/adjusted to accept the new $20 bills?

Yes, you do, or you wouldn't be asking ridiculous questions like this:

but don't pretend that there aren't REAL costs to this change and for what purpose? Can't they find some other way to honor her without affecting every single machine in the country that deals with cash.

You can't be this ignorant, right? Cash machines either use magnetic or optical sensors. They aren't trying to look for Andrew Jackson's picture, you know.

Well, apparently, I am that ignorant. I stand corrected. According to the below, it's the $1 bill that cannot be altered without major changes. So, these magnetic or optical sensors don't work with $1 bill change?

The $1, on the other hand, has managed to avoid redesign for more than 75 years, thanks in part to the efforts of the National Automatic Merchandising Association — the vending-machine lobby. If the $1 bill were redesigned, all vending machines currently handing out Mountain Dews to the masses would need to be redesigned as well. The Treasury isn’t too worried about the $1 bill being counterfeited, either. So George stays the same, the Dorian Gray of the dollar bills.
