This is the first year NBA has shown these (I think?) so I figured it'd be cool to have an ongoing topic on them.

For those who want to see for themselves: http://stats.nba.com/league/player/#!/hustle/

    Contested shots:

    1) Aldridge - 13.7 contested shots per game
    2) Danny Green - 10.7
    3a) Kawhi - 9.7
    3b) Duncan - 9.7
    5) Diaw - 6.0

    Deflections:

    1) Danny Green - 4.3 deflections per game
    2) Manu - 3.7
    3) Kawhi - 3.3
    4) Mills- 2.0
    5) Parker - 1.7

    Loose balls recovered:

    1) Danny Green - 1.3 loose balls recovered per game
    2a) Manu - 1.0
    2b) Kyle Anderson - 1.0
    2c) Tony Parker - 1.0
    5) Tim Duncan - 0.7

Screen assists (player sets a screen for a teammate which directly leads to a basket):

    1) Aldridge - 2.3 screen assists per game
    2) Marjanovic - 1.5
    3a) Duncan - 1.3
    3b) Diaw - 1.3
    5) West - 0.3

Total hustle stats (contested shots + deflections + loose balls recovered + screen assists):

    1) Aldridge - 17.3 per game
    2) Green - 16.3
    3) Kawhi - 13.3
    4) Duncan - 12.7
    5) Manu - 8.4

Only 3 games in so obviously things are a bit skewed (ex: Z-Bo is Memphis's only player worth a damn, and LMA has been the main guy guarding him, hence him leading the team in contested shots), but I'll try to keep this updated as we get deeper into the playoffs and keep a tab on things.

I heard they were doing that. Thanks for posting.

The contested shots and screen assists can have a lot to do with being on the better team. But deflections and loose balls are something that bad teams can do (hustle) to close the gap. Danny and Kawhi with a combined 8 deflections per game is great. That will be a factor in the later rounds, if they can keep it up.

Can you filter those for a per-36 or per-100 possession basis? I'd love to see how some of the reserves stack up on a minute-for-minute basis.

For people who think I'm making up Green's playoff defensive numbers when he consistently grades out highest on the team, that's some additional evidence.

Those stats are just as ridiculous as any other - fine use his "hustle stats" but there's no number that associates him losing his man on a back door, him getting lost on a switch, or him getting a TO and then scored on in transition. The only stats you have on that is when I complain in a game thread when it happens. Danny Green needs to play well for SA to win. He better bring his A game when Spurs play the Thunder/Clippers/GS/Cavs. Time will tell, I hope the stats and you are correct.

Aldridge stats are definitely inflated. He was abused by Randolph over and over again. Not sure if he comprehends scouting reports. Randolph kept going to his left over and over again and did the same moves.

This happens against every lefty. Everyone knows that Gino & Harden love going left but no ever shades them accordingly, at least not consistently.

Green couldn't stop Westgod in game 4 so Pop put Kawhi on Westgod in game 5. But some ing posters can't think rationally.

I think it's more understandable in the RS, but in the playoffs they just have to be aware of the guy they'll be guarding for at least 4 games.

Also, it would be cool if they kept contested vs made shots ratio. It could help make up for the guys who are good defenders but don't block shots.
