Lakers: Lakers to interview Messina

The Los Angeles Lakers are wasting no time in their coaching search.
According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the Lakers have received permission from the San Antonio Spurs to interview their lead assistant coach, Ettore Messina, as a possible replacement for the recently departed Byron Scott.
It is unclear how soon the team plans to interview Messina, the widely-respected Italian coach who won four Euroleague les and was twice the Euroleague coach of the year before spending the 2011-12 NBA season on the Lakers coaching staff headed by Mike Brown. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the search.

While many names have been mentioned, Messina and Golden State Warriorsassistant Luke Walton are believed to be on the Lakers’ unofficial short list. Messina, who is also being considered for the Sacramento Kings’ head coaching vacancy, joined Gregg Popovich and his San Antonio staff in July of 2014.

messina was an assistant coach or consultant with the lakers, i believe under mike browns coaching staff and he didn't do

So the obsession for the lakers is by everyone except laker fans? And honestly , how can watching the dubs not entertain you? It's really fun to watch if im honest. Like when the Spurs beat the heat, that was really really fun ball to watch as well, you don't see me getting all butthurt. Like some other posters here. I'm a fan of basketball just as much as I like the lakers.

While I understand where you are coming from, this thread actually involves both the Spurs and the Lakers, I don't think it is a thread targeted specifically at the Lakers as a "hate" thread.

I could just as easily throw the question back at Laker fans.... Why is potential "big news" not being talked about by Laker fans? Could it be they are not actually invested in their supposed "favorite" team and be the bandwagon jumping prior Bulls basketball fans they have been accused of for all these years (you being one of the few exceptions on this board along with Killa and Rsx)?

I never thought the 96 Bulls record would ever be broken, and in my opinion , they earned this fest, if it was in LA mother ers would be rioting, if it was San Antonio, we would never hear the end of it on here. Either way its just the media, we expect this.

I never labeled it as a hate thread, although every thread that starts involving the lakers/spurs turns into a boxing match, and as for me not starting threads about the lakers, I do sometimes, but every time it turns into Kobe vs Duncan and ill take some blame for that tbh
