lol watching the ball on the fast break and looking up to see you're nowhere close to the rim. These guys were the best at the time, but today couldn't compete against the D league.

Those fancy pantsy dipsy doo dunks are a thing to behold for sure. Imagine RW back then, screaming like a savage and swinging from the rim, getting in Jerry West's face and doing the pistol move. Today's NBA is the greatest, and BB IQ has really soared.

Gotta go with 1993 as the greatest year. It was when all of the biggest stars of the era were at their peak, especially Jordan, the NBA hit its zenith in popularity in the stands and on TV (more or less, I'll have to do research to confirm) and the play had not quite gotten bogged down completely by bad fundamentals, bad defense, free throw foul defense (i.e. Hack-A-Shaq) and overphysicality that sucked the life out of games and brought scoring down to a crawl.

That the NBA was at its best sometime in the 60's? I don't see it.

93? a good year but no way ...

I think the best year has to be maybe 1987-88 or so ...at or near prime:

    Magic
    Bird
    Jordan
    Malone
    Stockton
    Isiah
    Moses
    Nique
    Barkley
    Drexler
    Dumars
    Mullin
    ewing
    Bernard King
    Worthy
    McHale
    Hakeem

Great balance of the older guys: Malone/Magic/Bird etc.
Lot's of HOF guys in their first 5 years: Jordan, drexler,Chuck, Malone, stock etc.

I think NBA teams of that era would get destroyed by D1 college teams today.

It kinda sucks. In 1992-93 we gained Shaq and Chris Webber but just lost Magic and Bird. If only those two could have held on for another year, then we'd have them on board too in the list of stars. Championships for the Rockets aside, 1993 will always be my favorite year.

Also, how could you possibly forget Kareem above?

I just don't see players that can only dribble with one hand and overcommit on defense like in the above hanging with teams in college today.

Magic averaged a double double and 5 rebounds/assists (I can't remember which) in the 1991 NBA Finals, I'm sure he'd still be a solid player if he played two more full seasons. Bird? Probably not but it'd be cool to see him on the list.

What's sad is a little guy like Curry can be a two time MVP because he can shoot long range shots while the defense is not allowed to hand-check or put a body on the player anymore.

Legends like Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaq, Moses, Artis, Olajuwon, and other great big men would be useless in today's game.

Has to be 2004-05 when Mr. Top 10 All-Time Kirby made the All-NBA 3rd team at the PEAK of his prime:
