I just hope he has one more father time defying moment for us but unfortunately it looks like the wheels fell off already

Duncan being an unsung hero and deferring LMAlpha like he has all season. He'll be back next season to get that illusive back to back if the Spurs ring. He'll be back either way, imo. He still enjoys this. Next year could be the last though. His body may be starting to betray him too much now.

He certainly looks like he is done at the moment but I have hope we will see some retro games from him yet. It doesn't make sense that it's his knees or body breaking down when he looks okay on defense & running the floor but he's shooting like 50% on uncontested layups. It's just weird.

Once he got his knee scoped to clean out scar tissue, he's been even slower than normal

I hate to say it, but he's done. I don't think he'll want to come back, playing at this level.

That being said, I still choose to believe that Time MF Duncan can dig deep and find a couple more good games. Not a whole series - fine. And for sure not a whole other season. But a couple of games, just when they really need him, on the way to 6 and retirement? That's the stuff of legends, and the way a legend should go out.

I still believe he can do that.

Only thing to add about Duncan these playoffs is he hasn't been needed to be a focal point in the offense. Thunder are now a mismatch for him now in his current state. He can still provide help and production but not in a familiar capacity we are grown custom to seeing from him.

OKC and GSW are going to magnify Tim's age. For his salary, I can't complain about Tim's contribution too much. I'm just thankful LMA joined the Spurs. Watching Tim finally lose the race with Father Time has been far easier with a 67 win team. I still think, like the above posters, we'll see a few more flashes of the timeless Tim. I always wondered what would be the worst part of seeing the big three era in SA fade away. The hardest part by far is watching Tim not be effective. If he hangs them up this year, it has all been best case scenario.

Tony turning 34 this month and having two years at $15 million is what worries me more than Tim or Manu's NBA mortality.

Duncan should be able to be on the floor any time that adams is playing.

NOt saying that RPM is the end-all, but duncan led the league for a substantial chunk of the year in drpm, and is 2nd now. However, his health is really limiting him and he is not as effective on both sides of the floor in his current state, it appears. Otherwise he would be playing.

If adams is playing 20+mpg (played 40 last night) and duncan is not playing at least 20 minutes, that means duncan is not right.

He's been here before and come back.

Tim doesn't age in a linear fashion - he cycles up and down like the stock market. Only over a long period can you detect a meaningful trend.

That's my story and I'm stickin to it -- not ready to give up on seeing that greatness again.

Most of that is based on past play + his performance from the 1st half of the season, though..

Tim from pre-January was playing great basketball, one of the best role players among bigs..as others have already mentioned in this thread, he has looked like a completely different player since his injury..that's the problem with his age, all it takes is any type of injury to derail his season and make him a liability, tbh..

He's still a good defensive player in certain matchups, but he's a complete liability on the offensive end..

In regards to Manu, I think he looks fine out there, but it's evident that Pop doesn't trust his body anymore, since he continues to give him less minutes than expected(at least IMO)..

I trust Timmy's judgement on when it's time to hang up his Spurs. For now, I'm just enjoying the ride. I'm thankful for every minute I've watched Tim Duncan play.

Well put. It looked like the stars were aligning for Duncan to go out as a champion, even with his diminished play - then Golden State happened.
    sigh

If he can, I think he will play one more year. Have a feeling he does not want to go into the HOF the same year as Kobe.

I really think this is it for TD.

I'll be shocked if he came back for another year.

This team just has too many parts not showing up most of the time. The reason they won in 14' is because all players 1-10 were pretty much equals -- everyone was ballin. Now its a 2 man show with glimpses of decent play here or there from everyone else. Way too inconsistent to beat a team like GS or CLE.

Not a hater, just being a realist. I hope I'm wrong and TD goes out a champion.. I just don't see it and that's okay. Five.

I have. They have a cake-walk in the Eastern Conference. But they are playing like a well-oiled machine, and they will give the Western Conference champ (whoever it is) a run for their money. They have played like a totally different team since the end of the regular season. You are right, sir.

No, it's the perfect reflection of their perfectly contrasting careers. In his induction speech Kobe reminisces, "I remember the year of my farewell tour..." Then Tim gives his induction speech: "I remember the year of Kobe's farewell tour..." Or (hopefully) "I remember the year of my farewell ring."

If he does he better not let kobe upstage him like mj did to David Robinson in 2009. That pissed me the off for days.
