That wouldn't surprise me either. But numbers don't mean to Tim. He's not going to wait til he's averaging 10 and 6 to retire man. I agree there is nothing overtly suggestive that Tim is going to call it a career after this season. Tim is the stoic type we all know that. I think this off season and current season have been tough for him emotionally. Just enjoy what you see and don't take for granted that he's coming back for another season, that's all.

whatever, i admitted it was a ty take, no big deal. reg season/coasting/ciapop tbh
His drive to win another ring at this late stage has truly been amazing. Barkley didn't have the drive at 35 and he didn't win .. Duncan is closing in on 40..
He knows his legacy is already there, he's a top 10 player of all time, and has the chance to be revered even more.
While I could see him retiring in a few years, I could just as easily see him playing another 5 years. The way big men play differs from the speed of swingmen, he could be effective in the post and on defense (screen setting, a tall man is always a threat in the post, etc.) for many years to come.
haha, yeah that's a very weak observation admittedly.
And he's averaging a double-double for the season playing old man minutes.
"But what if this had happened a year ago, when Duncan was a mere 39 years old? Would LaMarcus Aldridge have had any interest in the Spurs?"
aka LMA and West bought a fugazi.
good article thanks for sharing.
Bull , Duncan had been playing smart, efficient and measured basketball before the right knee injury in January. He was passing the ball better than ever while rebounding and defending the paint at high level in limited minutes.
Unfortunately, his injury has hampered him considerably especially with what little mobility he has left and to add to that the team never acquired a adequate backup (when have I seen that before?) to protect Duncan.
Good article. Bittersweet that we only get to see the greatest Spur ever for ten more games. At least he will go out with #6.
It's so sad to see him try and try and the legs just won't move the way they used to. Scoop shots from 3ft away? Not his shot. Falling to the floor multiple times during a single game? For God's sake, Pop, keep him off the floor and save him the indignity of being outplayed by Adams/Cantor. I'd rather see him go out on the bench, a wounded warrior, than as a ghost of championships past.
He's been so close to retiring with another le, still playing great.
It's a shame his second knee gave up. I can only hope there's something left in him.
Tim will give us one more season. He loves the game too much and he can still play but this series is just tough for him. OKC is so athletic and it's giving him issues.
Hub caps are gone, running on two flats... It's inevitable.
I think the wheels are off. What he does now is because of his bball IQ. But I think this is his last rodeo.
right now he is a liability on the court. Unfortunately we don't have any big men left (except Boban and Bonner) who are big enough to match up with Adams and Cantor. Both of those guys are outplaying Diaw or West. Wasn't OKC the best rebounding team in the league? Once Adams becomes a good scorer for them as a thrid option, we have a lot of trouble in the front court.
