I'd honestly say nobody, but we're in too deep on Leonard and Aldridge. Other than them, everything is expendable, IMO.*

*There will always be room on the roster if Manu and Timmy want to hang out and come off the bench for minimal money.

Spurs aren't getting away from iso offense so long as Leonard and LMA take their shots. May as well double down with Clarkson, who can at least get to the rim and has built-in counter moves in case teams overplay the drive. Biggest issue is going to be finding a big who can play next to LMA. Right now, Aldridge is the only big I project to return, and with the limited cap space (after getting Clarkson or another guard), it's going to be hard to round out that rotation. Team also needs to worry about fit in addition to general quality, as they should have learned by now that a center doesn't work very well. Yet they also JUST got exposed for being undersized.

If you move Parker and Diaw while letting the option-year guys and the FAs go, you have $34 Million. Clarkson's max is at like $15 Million, so you have $19 Million (minus a million or two to sign picks). Could get nut-busting Anderson for that much, but I would want someone younger and longer-term if I'm going through that upheaval. Sullinger is my guy for a young big, and if he doesn't work out Amir and Gasol would also be nice.
It doesn't have to be a starting PG, though, nor does he have to play exclusively with Aldridge/Kawhi(I agree that it would be difficult to deviate from the current style)..the bench unit in this series was worse than the starters, they were outplayed by one of the worst benches in the NBA..

The bench is lacking a playmaking/penetrating guard that can play Manu's former role..Mills is essentially useless without Manu playing at a high level..the contrast in the regular season between the style of the starters vs. bench may have been sufficient if the bench could have sustained their RS performance from November-January..

    Green
    LMA
    Kawhi

    Those are your building blocks.

Timmy returning is up to him, you let him play as long as he wants.

Parker will probably return, I guess.

I thought Kyle Anderson improved tons this past season.

Jonathan Simmons and Boban could be useful bench pieces.

    The rest, whatever.

who i want: kawhi, la, td, manu (but i don't want him signing and/or playing until the all star break)

who i want but would be willing to give up: simmons (i want him but wouldn't say he's untouchable if the price was right), green, patty. would take west back but i do not want him playing center

indifferent about: miller (big fan but he's not getting younger), boban (his size is blessing and a curse... he gets blown by easily... not convinced he can contribute against elite teams), anderson

who i don't want back: "mvparker" according to some you , diaw (done with his ebbs and flows tbh), k mart, bonner

The ISO offense is just not explosive enough to pad a large lead.

The bigs like West, Diaw and Aldridge not taking 3 point shots is also a problem. Look what Cleveland is doing with Love and Frye. Look what OKC does with Kanter and Ibaka.

Sigh... been saying this all year. You can't win by clogging the paint with bigs that aren't even bigger than the opponents bigs.
Coach Lue has the balls to put Channing Frye in in the playoffs, and look what happens.

I was expecting Aldridge to extend his range all season but it never happened. Maybe with another offseason with Chip. His spacing wasn't the problem - just that 3s at a 33% clip are as good as 2s at 50%.

Diaw was leaving all his shots short and West's range left a lot to be desired though he hit one in garbage time. They were like Roberson from that range.

And LOL to those who think Parker's retiring.

Trade - Parker, Mills, Diaw, Anderson, (Possibly Danny Green if we can get a good wing defender who can make a damn basket 'OR' Danny gets glasses and starts practicing his shot for 18 hours a day like Kawhi, Curry, Thompson, Durant and Westbrook do)

Retire - Duncan, Ginobilli, Bonner, West, Miller (Hate like for Tim to leave like this - ***Would love to see him play 1 more season***)

Keep as work in progress - Boban, Simmons (we need athleticism and speed and he does have an upside to him)

Keep for sure - Kawhi, LaMarcus

    Not sure - Kevin Martin

This Spurs team is too old and way too slow and pretty much NON-athletic outside Kawhi and Simmons. I know Pop and RC won't go to this extreme but, damnit, one can hope!

    Keep Kawhi.

Nothing will change with PARKER leading the team as PG. Until he is gone, this is our immediate future.

I agree. But I'll add that if Manu retires (highly likely) the chances of trading Parker increases as the big 3 would have officially come to an end with Manu retirement. If that is the case, you always look for 8 playoff rotational players, and 2 specialists.

So, lets say Timmy comes back.

    Green
    Leonard
    LMA
    TD

Anderson and Simmons because they are dirt cheap.

So it is a no brainer the rumour leaked to target Conley as it is a position of need. Paul Gasol has had a rumour to join us as well. With this series loss, we can pretty much scrap out Durant.

If the Spurs get P Gasol, keep TD and Bobon, the center position is set. I would love to have Courtney Lee, Batum (too expensive). If we cant get Gasol or lose TD, then you kinda need to look at Noah who would work so well with LMA and Leonard/Green defense. The PF position is really lacking for the LMA center strategy, Ilyasova maybe? If the Spurs are going to embrace the small ball, switching era, then Noah, Batum, and Lee would be my targets, and try and trade Parker/Diaw for Teague or something to run the show.

Aldridge has said he expects to transition into more of a 3-point shooter, tbh..I thought this would be the year, I expected 100+ 3-attempts, but Pop opted to go the "counter-Warriors" route..hopefully he becomes more of a stretch big, next year, especially if the Spurs don't add shooters..

You're not signing Batum after dumping Parker/Diaw.

Pau or Noah is wishful thinking at this point, as are all of those PGs. If only one of those other Eurostash picks that the Spurs kept had panned out, it would mean a better set to pick from that you don't have to compete for.

Off - Boris, West, Miller, Martin, Bonner, possibly Duncan and Manu through retirement.

Keep - Kawhi, LMA, Danny, Parker ( if he can't be traded, unlikely ), Mills, Anderson, Simmons ( unless they draft a more talented wing ), Boban ( if cheap-ish ).

If they can't go for a big fish - they desperately need a 3rd scorer, then I'd prefer them going after players on short term contracts to preserve a max slot for 2017 - Gasol, Amir Johnson, etc types. Obviously trading Parker, if possible, would be the biggest catalyst for more major moves, but it's unlikely. Give the ball to Kawhi and let him create more.

    - Parker should be moved with the way today's game is played(explosive PGs), but considering the Spurs won't even move Bonner, there's no way they'll move TP
This is a given unless he's ready to retire & he gets used as a trading chip like Bowen.

Spurs desperately need a backup PG that can penetrate, a 3rd wing that can play defense, another wing that can shoot, and 2 more competent bigs..a lot of holes..
I'm pretty sure Pop is done w/ Diaw ala Malik Rose & he has a decline contracts that's also partially guaranteed so maybe Bud will do Pop another favor: Diaw/Patty for Teague

    -3rd wing: Courtney Lee
    -Shooter: Mayo
    -Bigs: Pau/Mozgov

I expect Pop to learn from this series just like Riley did after the 2011 Finals: Can't run ISOLATION OFFENSE in 2016 w/o a stretch 5.

Build around Kawhi/LMA/Danny. Tim and Manu retire. Don't care about the rest. They all need to leave.

I don't think that'll be a huge favor tbh. Teague has one yr left and they want to increase Schroders role. Getting Mills and Diaw who can strengthen ATLs crappy bench could be enough for ATL to part w/ Teague.

I'm hoping Timmy will come back for one more season. The Last Ride. He was damn good defensively until his knee injury.

Manu is going to retire. He looked done.

I would rebuild with Aldridge, Leonard and Green. Everyone else is replaceable or tradeable. Except Timmy of course.

We just got to find a way to get rid of parker. I don't know how, but I've been waiting for that day. It just has to happen.
