The Spurs have been plahying a style for many years, but other teams also get les and play a different style of basketball.
Many players have come to the Spurs and performed better than in their previous teams, how much of that can be learned (Pop) and how much of that works because the team has TD, TP and MG?

Now that they are about to go or at least cant play the same way they used to...should the Spurs change the style?
Assuming the new core is KL, LMA and lets say Green...and why not a new player that could come...should the Spurs change the style?

I cant make a list of all the styles but we know not all teams play the same way. Does the style depend on the players you have, or does the Spurs system work in all teams regardless of the big 3?

Should they change? Can Pop do that? Do the Spurs need another type coach?

Hope my question is clear, you know more than I do, so, I want to know what you have to say about this...maybe I learn something!

I dunno, Doc Rivers is a dynamo.
    Ditto Billy Donovan.

I don't think any other style could have beaten them.

You want me to coach? Who do you think I am? NASA just discovered 1200 new planets, it's basketball, get over yourself.

Teams build systems and styles based on the team's stars that they have. The goal is to maximize the talents if your best players and thus place them in the best position to succeed. It also requires that the team drafts and gets FA that fit the system they want to build around their star.

We are in a bind bc the team's former stars can no longer carry the burden. POP has implemented changes to the system to fit the team's new stars but the guys they are surrounded with do not necessarily fit the new system or supply skills that they need to succeed. The bench is similar bc it was built around a declining Manu who can't carry that burden either. They need to move on in the bench as well and add younger, fresher legs. If they keep Manu, the system will need to be retweaked anyways to place a burden on someone else.

Depends. I think they have the team to run an offense with a lot of flex action, but I just didnt get the abandonment of anything resembling basketball for Iso-trash. It had to be 1 of these 2, either a) pop isn't smart or b) the players aren't smart.

Change the way they played this playoffs, enough with the rest.

Silly thread. They DID change their style this season - went from the "beautiful game" that took us to 2 Finals, to a post- and iso-heavy game to adjust to LMA and Kawhi taking the scoring load. In the era of pace and space, I'm not a big fan of it, but it made sense given the personnel.

I'd like to see us move back towards the beautiful game, but only if LMA can learn to move more and score in more ways. Kawhi can certainly thrive in an offense centred on ball movement, we know that from what he did 2013-15.

Ball movement is the best thing for the spurs but they need more athletic players.....Spurs need a younger PG.....Patty Mills is not the same ever since he had surgery on his shoulder...Another Kiwi type player on the team would be nice....Athletic big...

I think Patty is fine, I say keep him if we start moving the ball. If we're gonna run this of an offense next year get rid of him, guy deserves better.

I'd say the players need to change more than the system. More youth and more length.

TBD. This team is fixing to undergo a pretty big transition imo, further making this Leonard's and Aldridge's team, and further going away from the big 3. Plus I think this current roster will look different than the one that will be there opening night. Pop will be able to evolve as his roster evolves. He evolved from the "Twin Towers" grind it out, defensive style, to a more uptempo, spaced the floor with shooters offensive style. I'm hoping the upcoming Spurs team will be more athletic than this past seasons version, along with more size in the middle.
