Good news, hope we use him.
Sources close to Boban say he expects to be back. Per Bleacher Report
Good news, hope we use him.
Looking more and more likely we're bringing the same team back. On to 2017.
LMAO if it aint broke right![]()
I don't see how you assume that with this report.
Boban is going to cost a great deal of flexibility. It's going to get a lot harder to dramatically change the team is he gets anything other than a small offer.
Sure sounds this way. If we get another season of Tim and Manu I'd be fine with it. Would like them to put the ball in Kawhi's hands more and let him run PnR and create.
Better be for the least possible amount but watch the Spurs offer him something like 2 years 12 million.. It's a bargain
He's not worth it. After it was all said and done, Boban gave good spot minutes but he's soft, can't rebound, lacks mobility and sucks on defense. He's worth no more than 2 mill per season - if that.
But absolutely everything you just said is a Spurs player profile. This guy might be a Spur for life collecting checks for being tall.

Bring back the Boban!
Why does everyone assume that Boban is going to command some huge salary?
Yes, he's ing ginormous and showed some basketball skills, but he didn't exactly take the league by storm (except for with his smile). He had a moderately successful rookie season which was spent mostly on the bench.
There MAY be some team willing to go out on a limb and offer him a big contract based off that...but it won't be the Spurs. They will pay him what he is worth, and if he really wants to stay in San Antonio where he seems very comfortable and was a fan favorite, it will be up to him to decide whether that money is worth it or not.
It doesn't have to be huge to be prohibitive. Even if he gets the MLE, that'll take up almost all of the team's realistic flexibility. While him thinking he'll stay a Spur implies that he is not going to seek a huge contract, unless it's for the room exception or LLE, the Spurs are going to have to make some potential sacrifices or miss some opportunities to keep him.
Good news, Next year he should have more playing time
His cap hold will be just $1.5 million vs. a minimum salary close to $500k. $1 million of flexibility lost and they can get done whatever they need to and then resign him. Yes, someone could throw an offer sheet at him but still have three days before the go/no-go decision, while that other team clogs up its much needed cap space for the critical early moments of free agency.
With the cap going up and limited FAs on the market, you may see more teams take swipes at RFAs but usually those dominoes don't fall right off the bat. This report may have been leaked to dissuade other teams from even trying.
And in the interim period, if they REALLY need that $1mm of cap space, they can always rescind his offer like they did with CoJo last year.
Nope. They don't have his Bird rights. They right of first refusal, but they'll need to use either an exception or cap space to match the offer unless it's for less than the QO. Honestly, his cap hold is completely pointless to consider. He's a regular free agent for cap purposes. There's no "dealing with him after".
I like Boban, but he has the euro big man softness syndrome like Kevin Love. He pushes, but when a big man pushes him even harder back, he backs down and goes to finesse ball.
The play where is dunked on the whole OKC team is how he needs to start the season. Even if he's called for fouls early on, he just needs to keep pounding that rock until the refs adjust to his size...you would hope.
Is too much to ask for some players who have some athleticism and "nasty" in them ? Guys who can get out and run the court too?
I like him a lot and hope he remains a Spur. He is a much more valuable player than let's say Kyle Anderson because he actually helps the team and competes.
We're talking about Boban, not Diaw and West...
Great post
Top 20 poster in my book.![]()
So more 2 man ISO ball?
To me, it's evidence of Timmay not coming back. PATFO likely have a feeling for where Timmay is headed and have told Boban, we're bringing you back.
I really can't imagine Timmay wanting to come back after the latter part of the season and postseason he had. Pop didn't even use him that much, at crunch time. So either he had some mysterious injury and wasn't at full strength despite all the rest he had, or he knew it also and told Pop he wasn't the best option. Or he did2 tell Pop that and still got benched, which is probably worse. And if it is an injury, do you really want to spend an offseason rehabbing to come back for your 20th year?
