It's funny bc while my complaints aren't about religion, but rather this need to push some agenda in every segment of life. And people here freak out at the slightest mention of religion. Pretty thin skinned.

God I hope you're doing a comedy bit. "Where is straight pride?" is one of the most widely circulated jokes about backwards thought on the Internet. Poor straight, white Christians. The government was tailor-made to serve your interests above all others and social standards of beauty, family, stability, wealth, and power are all built around your image. Black History Month, Pride, etc. are all important because literally every other waking second of human existence is a celebration of straight, white Christians.

I agree with this, but I think because it's centred around sexuality it's really odd. I mean, I really don't have an issue with any "blank" pride, especially for a group that has been discriminated against (and still is by many). However, when it comes to sexuality it's just odd to me personally.

I mean, promiscuous women have been demonized for a long time and there is still a severe social stigma around this even if they are single, consenting adults. But there is no pride for that. I think the sexuality portion of it is what is odd. I agree that people screaming "white pride" or "Christian pride" are silly because like you said, they have it damn good and always have. Plus, nothing is stopping them from wearing a shirt or anything to celebrate their beliefs if they so desire.

I get military, black, etc..pride. Those are different to me than sexuality which again I don't have an issue with LGBT pride - I simply don't understand why sexuality is something to be proud of either way. It's a private thing and hopefully one day people just look at it like they do anything else that is in that realm.

Side note: This was actually a very interesting and great conversation. On ST of all places. Who knew?

1. It's not genetic - people have long demanded an explanation for why there is no gay gene if sexuality is supposedly natural, but the fact is that less than 5% of the population identifies as gay. Less than 5% is not reflective of the gene pool. Heterosexual parents produce gay children, sexual parents produce straight children. Human sexuality is a product of a lot of things, and it is not a "gay or straight" thing. Masculinity and social repression teach people that you're either one or the other, and anything in between is not up for discussion. An honest assessment of sexuality would show that it's a product of a great many factors in development, and can be expressed in a large variety of ways. No element of sexuality is chosen. How one acts on their sexuality and impulses IS a choice.

What are you talking about? You were crying about religious freedom.

You came in mid discussion. I wasn't crying about anything. I was merely pointing out that while gays are a minority, they are a powerful one politically and then I gave examples. I'm tired of gay rights agenda pushed in my face. I don't favor discrimination, but keep your sex preferences to yourself.

And if I was pushing religion (like someone here who appears to be trolling people), I would say that most of the opposition comments show bigotry towards Christians, which to me is hypocritical. If bigotry is wrong for one group, it should be wrong for all groups.
