I thought Obama actually sounded pretty petulant today. I think Trump's getting under his skin.
You wish. Obama won twice, Trash will lose badly, probably worse than McLiar and Bishop Gekko.

The Repugs want those magic words from their knitter! that will beat the terrorists real good.

Maybe ISIS would be more contained if he directed that anger toward radical islamic terrorism instead of Trump. Look at how measured and careful he is with his words when referring to them compared to how he lets loose the anger with blistering words when he refers to Trump. I can see how frustrating Trump must be to his political correctness.

If Muslims are so easily recruited by ISIS, what does that say about Islam?
If conservatives are so easily recruited by Trump, what does that say about the Republican Party?

So ISIS would be more contained if Obama had a demonstrative press conference about them? I know you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed, but this is getting repe ively embarrassing. He and his team absolutely need to be calculating and measured when dealing with them.

The reason he's eviscerating Trump is he's sending a signal to moderate Republicans and independents. This level of idiocy was previously displayed by the political fringe (the likes of Palin, Bachmann, Limbaugh and Beck). Now you have a party front-runner who's spewing clueless drivel - even his own party thinks he's bat . This hasn't happened since maybe Goldwater's talk about nukes. Also, he's basically using this to push Congressional Republicans to either disavow Trump or tie themselves to him.

If he spent more time and effort attacking the REAL enemy instead of using this for political purposes, maybe ISIS would be better contained. He is the President - not an in bent running again. His job is to protect us Americans - not be making political hay trying to help Hillary and his party at a time like this. How about talking about how they plan to destroy ISIS instead of containing it? Why is all his anger aimed at Trump and the republicans? Why let thousands of refugees in from ISIS-related countries - which probably have possible/future terrorists to further stress the FBI/Homeland Security? If they are so -bent on letting in thousands, why not from non-ISIS countries?

I'm sure at this point in his presidency he believes the best way he can "protect us Americans" is to prevent the lunatic Donald from ever since sniffing the White House.

And and I have to say I do find it amusing that you actually think Obama's rhetoric affects in any way the US strategy to fight ISiS and other radicalized Islamist groups. Are you ing kidding me?

    1. Why do you think he's not doing all he possibly can? The things suggested by Trump and some in the GOP: launch a ground offensive, "take the oil", carpet bomb civilian areas etc are either not workable or will drag the US deeper into a never-ending conflict. As it stands, ISIS is slowly losing control - a few desperate acts in Western countries won't change their steady decline.

    2. Regarding Syrian refugee intake:

    (a) Till Dec 2015, the US had admitted about 1,800 from Syria. Obama has proposed admitting 10,000 this year and as of April 2016, only 1,703 refugees have come in. None of these numbers is even in the same stratosphere as the 250,000 number that Trump repeatedly lied about.
    (b) The US vetting process (18-24 months long) is the most rigorous among Western nations - contrary to Trump's lies that we do not vet refugees
    (c) Of the 1,800 who came in before 2016, 2% are single males of combat age - as opposed to Trump's claim that they are "mostly young, strong men"
    (d) Understand that these people have been victimized by ISIS - to claim that they are likely to be pro-ISIS is just stupid. Of the 750,000 refugees admitted since 9/11, only two Iraqis in Kentucky were charged with aiding Al-Qaeda. So the system is pretty robust. A vast majority of Muslim terror threats in the US are from US-born citizens, not from refugees.

    3. Obama's responding to Trump strongly because of people like you. Trump knows that you're scared of Muslims, so he has lied his ass off to stoke your fears. And at some point you've abandoned fact-checking and internalized his lies. Despite his unhinged conspiracy theories and fantasies, Trump is the GOP standard-bearer. He is pushing idiotic ideas into the mainstream debate, and Obama (along with some sane Republicans) needs to refute these outright falsehoods and crazy positions.

If you want to regurgitate Trump/Limbaugh/Hannity talking points, please verify them before making a fool of yourself - Google is your friend.

Exactly. And as we see so far, Repugs are regretting their endorsements and trying to distance themselves.

Seriously though re , how many times do you have to be on for being embarrassingly ing stupid before you do the right thing and eat a bullet?
Dude, give her a break. At least she's putting out her positions and listening to opposing views. I'd rather give out information that can help her understand issues better. Your approach will just turn her off from listening to anyone other than the Limbaugh/Hannity types who deal in lies and half-truths

Meh. Trump sounds petulant every day.

Be hard to imagine that someone saying you sympathize with terrorists wouldn't get under your skin. Good for Obama, finally calling out Trump for his bull .

Again, you often call him a liar, why believe him now?
One has to generally take people at their word.

I think Trump lies more than usual.

What bothers me though, is not that I think he would do it. His military advisers would probably caution against committing war crimes, and quite possibly face an outright mutiny if he actually carried through with any orders. The bothersome part is that he would publicly express that kind of sentiment, because it speaks to an erratic temperament even if he never intends to carry it out.

Further bothersome are the morons who believe him. Sad.
