I think we need a thread for the various moves happening with the coaching staff. Each is too inconsequential by itself to warrant a new thread.

Jacques Vaughn is now in Brooklyn as lead assistant

Ettore Messina is linked to several openings including Indy and Memphis

Becky has college head coach offers

    Borrego was interviewed by Memphis.

Feel free to add whatever floats out

I know some of you guys really want some of these guys out.

It does seem a bit odd that udoka isn't being rumoured to leave.

TBH the coaching evaluations should go like:

    1. See who voiced dissent to Pop's rotations against the Thunder
    2. Fire everyone else
    3. Pay Chip and Chad

    Pretty much.

Pop must've told the dissenters to get over themselves though.

I have a few questions on this one - how does one evaluate an assistant coach? I'm unclear how can we actually tell what their contributions are, given 99.5% of what they do is behind the scenes.

I understand we got a brief look at becky during Summer League, but i assume she's already learned a lot since then.
We also got a look at messina while pop was out, but it's not a total reflection of how he contributes to the team, since he was playing the HC role, and not explicitly demonstrating the contributions he made as an assistant.

I just want to understand how people are coming to their conclusions.

So with Memphis picking a different scrub, o I guess that ends any chance of any other coaches leaving. Oh well.

I'm surprised, given our playoff futility the last two years and the track record of most of the assistant coaches that just left, that our assistant coaches are so popular.

they haven't hired anyone thus far...Messina will likely come up empty after his interviews for Rockets/LAL/Sac jobs..Borrego didn't get the Memphis one and i would be shocked if he gets the Houston one.. Jim Boylen got an associate HC in Chicago last year, but he got that 2014 run as Pop lead assistant going for him...And it seems like Ime isn't interested yet..

Damn. Not Chad forcier. He's the one who developed Kawhi's post game. Chad is very overshadowed by Chip and his shot doctor fame. Chad works on skills like posting up and shooting out of the post. We need that with young forwards and bigs joining us and in the team the upcoming seasons!!

I'd send Messina and Borrego out and keep Chad the skill doctor.

    "The Chad is great".

It would be hard for Chad to turn down what appears like a head assistant job, although they use the wod aide.

I think the next replacement assistant should come from within the SpursTalk ranks. Everybody here knows better than Pop.

Don't worry, Pop... we can replace 'em as fast as other teams can hire 'em.
