has to be said, even if somebody talks about jinxing, tbh... it would be incredibly embarrassing for this Argentina team not to win this tournament at this point.
Clear path to the Final, and I think Mexico can put up a fight, tbh, but it looks like we have the much easier road, IMO.

Dude, how hard is it to understand that football isn't basketball? Anything can happen on a single elimination game, on a low scoring sport like this.
Losing Wood and Johnson are going to make it even easier for Argentina.

I mean, I get that if we get 3-4 guys injured by then, then the picture changes (but not Di Maria, which we all know was going to get hurt before the tournament was over). This team is stacked, supposedly hungry trying to hunt that elusive le, and now have a cakewalk to the Final. It's put up or shut up time, tbh...

Just look at a team like Germany, that made semis, finals, semis, finals for like a zillion tournaments in a row untill the finally got the break through. And I don't remember anybody calling them chokers or wanting to throw an entire generation under the bus.
If we don't win this , Argie press and fans will want to execute players, coaches and assistant coaches in the Obelisco. Just to bring crappier players that can't make the team now.
This is a good group of Argie players, they finally got us past the quarters of a WC after 26 years and they are a top 3 NT in the World. We have to stop being so self-destructive, have patience and analyze something more than just the result. We can't go around pretending like anything other than a championship is a worthless effort.
There's just zero reason why Argentina shouldn't win this, you have someone like Messi whose at his absolute prime and will only start to decline from now on, in a tournament filled with a bunch of good teams but nothing special.
But yeah in football anything can happen, but that doesn't excuse Messi and co. to not give it their all which they didn't in the previous copa america.

okay maybe I expressed argentinas shortcomings the wrong way, but it's undeniable they have underchieved so far, they don't play good football at all taking into account the talent they have in their team, I remember when Sabella took over, you guys looked mighty good with the pairing of messi-aguero-higuain counterattacking the of teams in the elimination conmebol rounds but when the WC came you were best known for your defense and your attack was nonexistent tbh.And how do you know this? Messi just walked on the last copa america final and argentina completely got shut down by chile, argentina only had one good chance to convert but higuain the bed, chile seemed like they wanted it more by pressing like mad men and argentina just took it in the ass and folded

If Chile's as good as they were in 2014, I'll take them over Mexico. In fact, I'd probably rather take my chances with trying to contain Messi.

They don't look as good but they press like no other team, they press like cholos atletico, dudes never get tired, they did that against mexico and we got shut down for the 1st half, they could have easily won that game.

Being "unlucky" with stacked teams can happen once, twice, three times... 10 times... not winning for 20+ years with stacked teams and a current team that has clearly the best player in the world and say stuff like "getting to another Final is not enough anymore" is way, way past "fortune". If they don't win you can place the blame on whoever you want, but they wouldn't be blameless, tbh.They can put up all they want but if the ball doesn't get in, it won't matter, tbh.
Those 20+ years aren't all the fault of this generation. In fact, this generation has done more than the previous two combined.
