Very much of letdown episode with lazy outcomes with stories that were so dense before (Arya for example)

Is there sexual tension between Jaime and Brienne or just friendship? Kinda weird since she's like 6'5" tbh.

The next episode looks like it's going to be badass.

My DVR cut off the preview for next week. But still, what a letdown. This whole season has been a letdown.

I like how all the edgy hipster posters are being critical of this season. This season has been great. The build up has been great. Only thing I'm taking issue with is all the time spend on The Hound with that weird little gathering of people..other than that I can't take that much issue with anything else.

I think that was done mostly to give Al Swearengen some screen time. It's too bad they killed him off that same episode.

I like the Deadwood reference. Truth is in that entire episode he was made out to be an old dog on his last legs. That entire episode featuring scenes with him its like he didn't belong ..guy made a guest appearance on one episode but truth be told he could probably displace some of the current cast.

This season has not been great. It's had a few great episodes, but has been very disjointed and has misused/squandered multiple main characters.

Episode 7 was incredibly strong. Episode 8 was a resounding thud.

I don't care to go into everything the last episode undid, or failed to do, but it represents the culmination of multiple stories, some many seasons long, and almost all were abject fails.

This does a pretty good job of explaining disappointment, including brief discussion how many of the story lines were multiple seasons long.

Also hints at larger disappointments and absurdities of this season, like the stupid ing sand snakes.

Writing has gotten very lazy. Characters mostly suck, and plot lines either extend too long, are snuffed out too soon, seemingly disappear (what the did ever happen to Dorne and the Sand Snakes?), and almost every building story line of the last two seasons has led to disappointment.

I know it's a complex story with complicated narratives throughout, but it really needs some simplification. The entire RiverRun scene could have been played out in a delivered Raven's note. Rickon has been a captive of Ramsey for how many episodes now? Have we ever returned to that potential ed up hostage situation?

Hodor was the last conclusion of a building plot to hold any significance, or land any lasting impact on the viewers. Glad the Hound is back, but that is a just developing story, not end of one.

The last two seasons really have built to almost utter disappointment.

Even Jon Snow and Tyrion suck as characters now.

I've liked this season actually, much better than season 5. The only thing that really disappointed me this episode was Arya and how she seemingly just brushed off multiple abdominal stab wounds and killed the waif off screen. And I still don't know what the point of her storyline has been the last two seasons.

The Riverlands stuff has been fine. I really liked Jamie and Brienne's scene together, I liked their characters the best when they were together. I also liked Arya and the Hound the best when they were traveling together. The Lannisters taking Riverrun by simply threatening Edmure and setting him free is very much in line with his character. Dude is a pussy and a up.

I will agree though that the show should have minimized the storylines these last couple of seasons.

RiverRun is quintessential everything wrong with the show.

You have two epic characters, one of legend, one well fleshed out, facing off for important play, who have an incredible opening scene, effectively promising a payoff. The story is extended further than it needs when rather than a payoff built up by initial conflict, something is just simply resolved, and, increasingly, it's resolved off screen.

I'm fine if the dude pussies out. But they built him up to brave death just the episode earlier. He had a knife to his throat and nary a budge.

So, stop it with the 180-degree character changes.
Stop it with the wasting of significant characters.
Stop it with the extended story arc.
Stop it with the passive or bland payoffs for promised conflict.
Stop it with the off screen deaths of significant characters.

They purposefully drag out narratives and seemingly just let the plot whither.

Above all, just stop wasting time. I really feel like almost all of the last three seasons could have been trimmed and fit in about 12-15 episodes.

So much useless filler. Too many extended plots for no reason or no actual payoff.

Seems like it's following the books rather well in that respect, they are pretty much a mess at this point too.

The difference in A Game of Thrones and A Dance with Dragons is pretty drastic. Eight perspective characters vs almost twenty. Most of what happened in the last two books was just to waste time and allow for characters to age and the dragons to grow up.

In the books, Edmure had a reason to turn Riverun over to the Lannisters. Jamie told him specifically that they would first send all the houses that fought for the Tullys for the initial assault on the castle. The extreme loss of their bannerman was what made Edmure hand over the castle. However, in the book, Edmure tricks Jamie because the Blackfish is able to escape. I am okay with killing the Blackfish but I hate how they make it look like Edmure was a traitor against his uncle.

Too many tough critics on the internet. The battle of the bas s and Daenerys returning with her dragons as the masters are about to attack should make for a solid end to the season imo.

I thought the white walkers would play a bigger role in this season but I guess it makes sense to bring them into the picture slowly since it will take a united Westeros (including Daenerys) to take those ers on tbh.

No one ever complains about the big episodes with big battles, etc. It's more that you can just look at the episode numbers and pick which ones will be boring af, tbh

had to skip through most of the first 11 minutes, soo boring.

glad Little Finger is finally back in the plot. I always thought He and Varys would be major players for the good team, but then he disappeared... Varys hasn't been doing much either

Solid episode. I wish they had spent more time building up Jon Snow recruiting the North and less time on Riverrun. But maybe next episode we will get an unexpected payoff in the last episode.

The preview showed Walder Frey making a toast with a Fray and Lannister sending their regards comment so I suspect there could be an assasination taking place. My money is on the Blackfish dying like he was suppossed to die. On screen and avenging his house.

Where was Ghost during all that?

Anyway, don't have a whole lot to say... awesome episode, though the "Saved By The Vale" moment was predictable. Even the music was excellent. I usually don't rewatch individual episodes, but I probably will rewatch this one in a few days.

Episode 10 is supposed to run long, something like 69 minutes.

Easily top 3 episode of series tbh. Battle episodes are high quality.. You can tell they spent a large amount of time trying to perfect it
