Old greats can never have a younger player better than them. He did more with less, and he really went all in for whoever he was playing (Argentina, Napoli, etc). He's the kind of guy that cried when he came up 2nd in the 1990 World Cup. He was outspoken as a player and person, if he didn't like something, he'll just blurt it out, for good or bad. That's why his stay in Barcelona was short.

Yeah people often say their personalities are vastly different like you said, but I mean footballing wise, Messi can score, can pass, can dribble.. He can do it all like I'm assuming Maradona was capable of doing too.
I'm gonna watch Maradona tapes to better inform myself, watching Messi every time he plays might have made me a little bit bias. In my opinion Messi doesn't really need to have that type of personality Maradona had, Messi can take over games based on his sole footballing qualities, but I guess a lot of people prefer the outspoken types that could back it up.
How's Maradona a better passer? Messi is the greatest assister of all time (stat, not an opinion, tbh). Those "above the defense passes" Messi makes like 3 or 4 times per game is something that I have never seen anyone else do (at least not with the insane regularity Messi does).
They both have the same aura, in that whenever they get the ball, it's mesmerizing... frankly, since Diego retired I've never seen anybody else other than Messi being like that. And Diego loved to show off, even when he wasn't the fastest guy anymore, he could still do magical stuff with the ball.
