I can't even see them getting past Croatia/Wales with the defense they have. They struggled mightily in the easiest group of the Euro's. Probably the most disappointing team right now.

Anything can happen, but Rakitic/Modric/Bale would have a field day with that defense.

Argentina on the last Copa America had to go through Uruguay, Colombia, Paraguay ('cause they upset Brazil on penalties. If not it would have been the pentacampeones) and Chile.

On this Copa the path on paper was Chile, Uruguay, Colombia and whoever makes it from the other side. We just got lucky with upsets on other games.

Any of those paths are more difficult than what we got in the last WC with Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Anomallys like these happen from time to time, but that doesn't mean that the continental tournaments are more difficult than the Global one, because at the end of the day in the WC there's nobody missing and at some point you will have to play the most difficult rival possible.
