His jumper isn't consistent from what I have seen and read about Hanga. Great motor and size for his position.
do you think he has a chance? Could be a D and 3 type player?

he is really athletic, if Chip can make your 3pt shot consistent, it would be much better than Roberson for example.
Hanga is also like 28 so that makes it tough.
Bertans though, we need that dude now
Anyone who caught the euroleague final four game this guy was in. I read the stat line and a few snippets about his play. Just curious if anyone caught it while broadcast, etc.
I love watching him come off screens.
Of course, he'll be signed and inactive so other slow ineffective wastes can on the court.
If they don't bring this kid over and give him playing time I will be so pissed. 😡
Just hit a huge clutch three to keep his team's playoff hopes alive:
Insane stuff, Bourousis hits a ridiculious basket to send the game to overtime. Baskonia down 2 with 0.9 on the clock and no timeouts left. Great full court pass by Hanga to find Bourousis who somehow makes the basket in time.
Oh well Bertans fouled out giving up a And-1 in the post but he also had a nice block on a layup before that.

http://projectspurs.com/2016-article...contract-offer
Though free agency in the NBA doesn’t begin until July 1, one of the first clues in the San Antonio Spurs’ offseason plan to get younger, add shooting, and depth around Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge might already be taking place, as EuroHoops.net wrote Sunday that the Spurs intend to offer Latvian forward Davis Bertans a minimum contract offer this summer.
what we missed a lot this season was someone who could move without the ball and keep moving while waiting for a screen. marco had been that player for us and his absence was missed in that regard. bertans would clearly be that guy.
I know it is Euroleague but he has shown the ability to make high pressure 3s.
His defense worries me a little bit, but Pop will at least get the best of him on that end. If you're tall, shoot, and have average athleticism you will have a place in this league. He has a quick release also. He has really grown into that body since we drafted him when he was 18.
Personally what worries me is his poor rebounding numbers. He's short armed I have noticed too. He reminds me of the Red Rocket too much in that regard, but Red Rocket found ways to be adequate enough on defense.
Bertans' post defense will have to get to at least Red Mamba levels IMO.
- He's more athletic than most small out there (even the starters not not level A)
- Nothing Indicates that It will be the worse defender than the average of the league (like Marco)
- It is not a PF in the NBA, it should definitely be a SF
- He has a shot so ridiculously good, Which will open the defense for Kawhi is Aldridge

2016 NBA Draft: Dragan Bender gives his thoughts what Davis Bertans will bring to #Spurs http://news4sanantonio.com/sports/spurs-zone/2016-nba-draft-dragan-bender-gives-his-thoughts-what-davis-bertans-will-bring-to-spurs … #gospursgo
That's kind of random. Was he specifically asked about Bertans? Bender played in Israel so I don't quite see the connection there. Also calling Bertans a great defender is a just bit overstated, I guess he's being polite.
Sounds like he was asked specifically by the San Antonio media during the draft media availability conference call for the green room invites. Sounds like he was asked about Bertans solely due to both being European.
Despite his opinions on Bertans' defense, he does seem to be quite informed about Bertans in general. I doubt the other draftees could discuss players out of conference and age group like Bender did.
Bertans does give great effort on defense. Doesn't equal great defense though unfortunately.
Bender apparently worked out for the Spurs, so maybe he was asked then?
I'd be surprised if this guy contributes much.
They scouted him abroad; he didn't work out for us.
In today's chat:
Drom John (Macon, Georgia)
Do you have WARP projections for Davis Bertans and Livio Jean-Charles and other internationals who are allegedly coming over?
Kevin Pelton (3:46 PM)
Bertans looks like a fringe rotation player at this point. Jean-Charles hasn't projected as an NBA-caliber player since his ACL injury.
