Agreed + There are trolls that just want to give out players for peanuts bc they don't like them without understanding the impact that player has in our team's wins.

I am paying attention to Minnesota. Thibodeau reportedly wanted Jimmy Butler, but Chicago went the other way.

Minny desperately needs 3pts shooting and perimeter defense and Thibodeau is a defensive coach. I think Danny is in play for the 5th pick. It really depends on whether Minny can get anyone better.
If spurs go there it's for dunn you got to believe, which would mean shipping tp too. I don't think green is worth a top 15 pick alone unless it's salary related. Utah wanted to get rid of their pick, people are forgetting this part with the hill deal.

i wonder if a european stud wing defender would sweeten it enough for the defensive minded thibs? Hanga?

Danny is worth it to the right coach and the right situation. He's been remarkably healthy, a stud even, durable, record 3 pts shooter, a tremendous defender. TBH when I consider it I am almost reluctant to give him up myself. Minny from example needs defenders. Their best lineups were with Lavine starting I believe, next to Wiggins bc he can shoot, but he's a terrible defender. And they need veterans to change those kids mentality and provide some leadership on defense. It's possible Minny will not find a better defensive wing than Danny. They allegeddly wanted Jimmy Butler. Coach Thibs is going to have to coach Wiggins, but Danny would be a great mentor for Wiggins (and Lavine).

They value shedding the "dead" salary to create room to use that salary to sign a better player(s).

There's no reason for PHX to hold on to 33 yr old under-performing Tyson Chandler. They'd be able to utilize that 39 million in better ways that correlate with their current situation.
A team that could take Chandler are the Hawks if they want to remain a pretender after they lose Horford. They can make the deal happen by swapping him for Tiago's expiring.

I can see him liking hanga but hanga can't shoot. And that's their biggest issue right now.. they took the same amount of threes all season golden state took in a game.. (joking of course)

Danny is a great fit for the spurs. He is arguably the best wing defender in the game, and has a great stroke, but it isn't made by him, its made by open looks from all the attention being elsewhere. He has value, no doubt, but he isn't a lottery player. That's crazy. Like I said if the situation is right with the cap or position need, the team could find him more valuable than what's available, but that's not the same as being a lottery pick value. I'd trade him for a chance at Beasley though. Same player, much more upside.

Like I said, its worth it to the right team and the right situation. Teams like Minny already have a lot of young players and they really need to start adding quality veterans to improve. Further lottery talent is not going to raise them from the bottom. They have their centerpiece and a lot of talent to surround that guy already. I am not sure if this is the play, but Thibs is looking for perimeter defense for his group and Danny is the best there is that could be had in a trade. I don't know of any other premier perimeter defenders that are possible to get right now. They also need a quality PF, and that can sway them away from Danny and to look elsewhere. I am not saying Danny is the best they could get for their pick, but its possible. Proven talent can be worth a lottery pick, even role players, if they are elite at valuable skills, which Danny is.

The problem is we can't really give antyhing to OKC, but Ibaka would be an amazing fit.

Yea, i wasn't even thinking in terms of us, just posting here. I doubt they'd work with us to try and help us.

Though Ibaka really hasn't improved much over the last 3-4 years. Pretty much the same player. If he's not hitting mid-range shots, he's not helping offensively, and he's a shot blocker on the other end.

Full rebuild mode in effect then:.

    JGrant
    Portis
    Mirotic
    McDermott
    Lopez
#2 Draft pick (Ingram or Dunn)

Gasol and Taj probably will decline option and traded, respectively is my guess.

That's a horrible looking future, outside of the #2 pick

I agree that blowing it up is the correct move(been saying they should do it for the past 2 years), but they really need to find some good prospects..

RC Buford says due to how contracts will be signed, he's not sure yet if Murray will play on the Spurs' Summer League teams.
