Wow imagine the length on perimeter D with Kawhi, Kyle and now this guy. That will rival Milwaukee's length.

Funny what can be accomplished when the GM knows his job isn't going anywhere no matter what.

Looks like a good pick given that he was like #20 in other mock drafts.

I like the size and wingspan, plus you can't teach basketball instinct that this guy really has.

Spurs rarely draft an American in the 1st round. This is one of them and looks like a good one otherwise it would have been a draft and stash.

They were lucky here other teams had so many 1st round picks they didn't deal that they drafted a lot of stashes and this guy fell. He was really expected higher. He has flaws obviously but they are correctable and he's 19.
I don't have a problem with the pick, I don't really watch college ball, I don't have an opinion on any players..

I follow the draft, though, and the reaction to Spurs' draft picks are always the same

Since they've had just two players since 2008 pan out, and one was traded for the other, yes.
    +1

Geez, am I the only one who hasn't given up on Anderson? I thought he was solid enough for a 22 year-old in his 2nd season. Think he'll be a solid role player for the bench unit, which is all you can really ask for from a 30th pick.

Murray will not see the NBA floor next season. The year after that is spot backup duty. He is at least three years away. I could see the Spurs asking him to play in Europe for a year, maybe on TPs team.

I rather see Simmons as the guy likely to get pushed out. Kyle is a forward.
What happened to all that I hope Fathead plays PG crap?

I'm fine with Murray being raw. I just hope that he will be ready when the team needs him. I really wanted a young PG in the system last year and was apoplectic when the team stashed a big instead. I don't know if he's a long-term fit with Anderson on the bench, but he gives the team options, and that's something they've been lacking. I'm really interested to see if this kid has the intangibles he needs to realize his potential.

The team got a guard, they didn't get Qi or Maker. That's almost perfect. If only they would have picked up AJ Hammonds or another big in the second.
I see. I don't know him enough other than some highlight videos, certainly don't know him as well as I knew Anderson and Simmons from watching them in the dleague together.
I just really want to see Mills go back to playing off the ball and these two make plays. Still probably a year away, so Pop will want Manu back, beg him even.

I like him. People on here are morons. Once he hits shots consistently he'll be a true asset.

I'm not an Anderson hater, at all, I've rarely said anything bad about him..however, when you look back at all the tweets and "grades" articles from credible outlets, everybody was showering praise on the Spurs for yet another "steal"

It's still possible that Kyle will become a nice player, I've seen flashes, but he certainly hasn't shown enough to call him a steal, yet(and yes, I'm aware that you can't expect anything from the #30 pick in the draft)..

to be fair, were there late first round prospects better than RAy? You don't even have to like Ray, but in hindsight the spurs got their PG

Not really. We were assuming Rozier would fall, and that obviously didn't happen.

What? I mean that I wish they had drafted the guard last year, to give that player two years before being a backup and three years before being a starter. And the team better not sign Conley if they aren't trading Parker. It simply doesn't make sense. I wouldn't be shocked if they actually decided to just bring the band back together while swapping out the old detritus for some young prospects.
I kind of agree. Pop wants to give a chance to these young guys to develop and they are bringing the stashes finally. Some of these youngsters will grow into a support system for Kawhi. At least like you said, we will have guys at the end of hte bench with potential to start stealing spots from these veterans as they get experience.

Kyle is a steal if he manages to be a rotation player which he is close to being.

Would anyone argue that he woudn't be a top 20 pick after hi summer league stint?

The goal for me would be him ready to be the backup next season and ready to be a starter the season after that. Would rather he had an extra year, but what can you do?
He's going to be a disaster like Cameron Payne if he's thrown into the fire next season.
