I hope he means it. Because if he does, he'll be that guy next to Kawhi in a few years. Dude has the talent. He just needs to put in the work.

The team is thinking about what this team looks like in five years, when LMA will basically be done.

I'm not an Anderson hater, at all, I've rarely said anything bad about him..however, when you look back at all the tweets and "grades" articles from credible outlets, everybody was showering praise on the Spurs for yet another "steal"

It's still possible that Kyle will become a nice player, I've seen flashes, but he certainly hasn't shown enough to call him a steal, yet(and yes, I'm aware that you can't expect anything from the #30 pick in the draft)..
Yeah, I certainly agree that so far he hasn't been a huge steal or anything like many people predicted. But some people in this topic and elsewhere on this forum seem to act like the Spurs completely whiffed with the pick. I really don't think of it like that at all.

As for past years, I don't remember people saying the Spurs got the "steal of the draft" with guys like Milutinov or LJC. Maybe a few joking "Watch this guy become an all-star in 3 seasons" comments, but it's not like people were seriously proclaiming them has huge winners of the draft or anything. KA (and now Murray) is really the only guy from the past 4-5 years where I remember people hailing the pick and acting like the Spurs made one of the best picks in the draft.

it's pretty funny that the Spurs still have the reputation of finding gems in the draft and free agency, tbh..
Simmons was being touted as a gem last season on EVERY national broadcast.

I'm fine with Murray being raw. I just hope that he will be ready when the team needs him. I really wanted a young PG in the system last year and was apoplectic when the team stashed a big instead. I don't know if he's a long-term fit with Anderson on the bench, but he gives the team options, and that's something they've been lacking. I'm really interested to see if this kid has the intangibles he needs to realize his potential.

The team got a guard, they didn't get Qi or Maker. That's almost perfect. If only they would have picked up AJ Hammonds or another big in the second.
I really hope we can trade back into round 2 and get Prince Ibeh. use Mills for the trade.

He's going to be a disaster like Cameron Payne if he's thrown into the fire next season.
Hence why I wish the window for him to sit on the bench was a year longer. But...

If that is true, he may start getting minutes this season.

His interviews have been grade A so far. Saying all the right things. His videos show him as very compe ive. An opposing coach he played against in college said he's a future all star.

It's a great pick, time will tell if it plays out as usual. I'm pretty happy about it tho. Like you said, him and Kawhi could be big.

Geez, am I the only one who hasn't given up on Anderson? I thought he was solid enough for a 22 year-old in his 2nd season. Think he'll be a solid role player for the bench unit, which is all you can really ask for from a 30th pick.
IKR, Kyle Singler is on a contender's roster & has the same salary as Livingston.

No you are not. Church of Anderson is still alive and kicking with a few closet members here and there.

Seriously, people were repping him because he has "NBA athleticism". You know who else has NBA athleticism? Pretty much every NBA player.

Murray will not see the NBA floor next season. The year after that is spot backup duty. He is at least three years away. I could see the Spurs asking him to play in Europe for a year, maybe on TPs team.
RC said he's staying with the team. If he's that raw he's getting on the same regimen as CoJo and Anderson. D'league duty his first season and will get a chance to make the roster his second season but will have to compete with others and earn it.

    Chad Ford ESPN Senior Writer

The San Antonio Spurs select Washington PG DeJounte Murray with the No. 29 pick. Steal of the draft. He was ranked No. 9 on my final Big Board bling, athletic and a great feel. If his shooting improves he could be the best PG in the draft. He could be an All-Star someday. Seriously. Typical Spurs. They got a lottery pick at 29.
    You know nothing Chad Ford.

He's going to be riding buses in the D-League & flying w/ the team on road trips. He's essentially taking K-Mart's spot.

I kind of wish he would have all over the pick. Chad Ford having someone at #9 on his board isn't a great thing considering he had Darko #1 on his board in a draft with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, David West, Josh Howard, Boris Diaw, and Kyle Korver.
