Technically, it's Tim's option.
I guess its good we didn't give up any players for picks, we can use them for offseason trades.
Technically, it's Tim's option.
Thanks
Borderline starters on a contender are the likes of Lin/Courtney Lee who are going to get 12-15 mill each so the two "borderline starters" is out of the question unless Tim retires & Pau decided to sign for cheap.
If Manu retires & Patty doesn't get traded then a playmaker w/ size like Vasquez would be ideal. This has been beaten like a dead horse but Cole Aldrich is the best backup center that can be had for a reasonable price considering Ezeli is going to get in the 12-15 mill range. He can play behind either Tim or Pau.
IMHO, Aldrich could end up being a big part of our off-season. Plus, with what Phoenix did in the draft, I think your guy, Leuer is definitely not returning to the Suns.
I saw somewhere that he's a client of Rich Paul, thus all the images or videos of him with Lebron, and practicing shooting with Ben Simmons. It's my understanding that guy is a pain in the rear. I doubt the penny pinch him on peanuts, but unlike you I don't know much about these things at all. Got to be timing. I hope they get their timing right. I really look forward to seeing Dejonte.
Wow Chinook had this right all along.
LJC had the leverage to force this contract and I would not be surprised if it was sort of agreed to before hand as he really could have come last season too but graciously agreed to be stashed again.
Indeed, as Deeks also points out:
http://www.shamsports.com/2014/09/ho...of-rookie.html
Remember that agents do not get 4% of rookie scale contracts. Instead, they can get only 4% of the amount above the 80%. Therefore, if a payer gets 120%, the agent gets 4% of that 40%, and if the player gets 80%, the agent gets zero. To put that into some actual numbers, the #15 pick in this past draft had a scale amount of $1,546,100 for the 2014/15 season. 80% of that amount is $1,236,880, and 120% of it is $1,855,320. The difference between the two is $618,440, 4% of which is $24,738. This is a decent one year pay day for negotiating a contract normally so automatic that 95% of eligible players get it.
You can see, then, why it is a very big thing for an agent to get his played signed for the full 120%. And so you can see why an agent might do everything in his player to get that full 120%. You can see why they would not wish to work for free. And you can see why they might advise a client taking the 80% tender offer. After all, if the player does that, the agent gets nothing. And that's not how agents work. So if the only offer on the table is an 80% one, you can see perhaps why an agent might advise against it.
RC had stated that he would bring some stashed players over this offseason he said Bertans and "maybe more"
Don't assume Simmons is part of this crew.
With Bertan/LJC coming over, you can basically cross off Leuer from the list.
I'd probably trade Diaw for Chandler and hope I could convince Gordon to come over the the $8 Million or so I had left in cap space.
For the Diaw rumors
Boban is useless vs every contender. Any money we spend on him is a waste.
Well Spurs are definitely getting younger but man there are obv a ton of question marks that come with that. We now know:
SA drafted Murray
SA signed Ryan Arc
SA is bringing over LJC
SA *likely* bringing over Bertans
We don't know if any of those guys can actually play at the NBA level ever let alone next year.
With no trades of Mills, Boris or anyone (even when it was really easy to do so) we don't know if SA plans on pursuing cap space or not (although it seems likely).
We really didn't walk away from the draft knowing anything or filling any basketball holes for next season so it's all on Free Agency now and on Tims decision.
My only wish was SA taking some more flyers on the young guard pipeline. McCaw, Ulis, GPII. So many guards that I wish SA would have gotten a 2nd rounder or two since the cost was low. No biggie.
I agree... but he does have his uses. It's just his weaknesses make him unplayable in crunch time. Much rather have Duncan, Pau, and Milutinov
Gs got McCaw for cash! At the 38th pick.
This can't be right

Wizards to prepare a 4y/120m max offer to Joakim Noah
Yeah, if KD doesn't sign here, SA should be out of this FA. It's disgusting.
I am starting to think (and yes, this should probably go in the main off-season thread EDIT: And so it's here), that the Spurs are going to pursue cap space but also bring the same team back.
So as of right now, they have the following under contract (at least rumored)
Parker, Mills, Murray
Green, Simmons, Arcidiacono (and yes, I know he doesn't count)
Leonard, Anderson, Bertans (room exception)
LMA, Diaw, LJC
As well as having Boban as an RFA.
That leaves them with about $14 Million in space with Tim, Manu and West unsigned.
I'm thinking they choose between Diaw at $4 Million and West, and between Boban and another center in the MLE range. That takes leaves them with out $9-12 Million, which should be enough to give Manu and Tim small raises.
So we have:
Parker, Mills, Murray,
Green, Manu, Simmons (and now Arcidiacono really doesn't count)
Leonard, Anderson, Bertans
Aldridge, Diaw/West, LJC
Duncan, Boban/MLE guy, Cady/Ndoye.
Provided the oldies are signed to one-year deals, that preserves 2017 cap space, but it's also not a restart. I'm not sure if the MLE and the youngsters will make any difference, but at least the team isn't sacrificing their futures trying to win now. And this plan is easy enough to cobble together than it can be implemented as a backup plan to the Durant sweepstakes.
We already have a lot of youngsters and no roster spots to develop as it is so I can see why they didn't purchase a second round pick and take one or two other guys, though there was still talent after our pick that could have been worth it.
because this draft sucked. you have people saying a pg with a 4/3 ATO ratio is a steal at 29...
It will probably be easier to navigate the market in 2017 when teams aren't trying to reach the cap anymore, but the team should probably think long and hard about locking someone in now before the cap gets even higher.
Besides Murray and Bertans.... Our youngsters ing suck
Sign somebody, anybody. Next year's draft is stacked, trade some players for future picks and clear cap space
He was nice on a minimum salary to eat up minutes in the regular season but dude is unplayable in the postseason ala Blair.
