Wow, Sapphire Italy is posting links to articles about the RX 480 at 1266 MHz outperforming the R9 Nano and that these cards can go to 1500 MHz. Holy if true.

If y'all don't know, Sapphire is the add-in board manufacturer that makes the best AMD cards on the market. Their coolers and boards are outstanding. If Sapphire is acknowledging these rumors this card might end up really something. If the $199 card is outperforming the R9 Fury then the GTX 1070 at $420 is going to be a really ing hard sell. I imagine the 1500 MHz cards will be the ones AMD was talking about selling for around $300. I thought this card was going to be bull , but Sapphire's word carries a lot of weight.

Cry Havoc man, could AMD have possibly pulled another HD 4870? The AMD HD 4870 came out two weeks after the $650 GTX 280, sold for $299, and came within spitting distance of the GTX 280 on performance. I don't expect to see something that drastic, but all of a sudden Sapphire publicizing these rumors makes it sound like RX 480 could really be something when it launches in 11 days.
RIP to my " AMD thread" if true. Damn, I think I'd really consider going the AMD route if this is true. Im also curious what the SLI/Crossfire performance looks like. Two of these for just a bit more than one 1070 might be the one way to go.

Dual gpu sucks in games in 2016, I wouldn't touch it.

DX12 multi gpu is actually supported in exactly one game right now: Ashes of the Singularity. DX11 support is there in many new games, but the scaling is really bad in most of the new this year. Eg 45% or less.

RandomGuy, another 1070 benchmark in eight of the toughest to run games: The Division, Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Ashes of the Singularity, Far Cry Primal, Project Cars, Assassins Creed Unity, Crysis 3. I'm especially impressed that it kept Assassins Creed Unity over 60 fps the entire time, that was a beautiful but horribly optimized game that chewed gpus up like crazy at launch a couple of years ago. This is a pretty unbelievable card for $380-$400.

When can we actually get our hands on it? It seems to be sold out everywhere.

Check newegg's page every 30 minutes to one hour. Do the same for the EVGA store's page. That's probably the only way you're getting one for a while. And if you see one you gotta buy it right then, they'll go out of stock within 5 minutes of availability.

Yeah. Can't wait to see the real world benchmarks.

We'll see. But things look a lot better for amd right now, their stock is sharing atm.

Witcher 3 for $24.99 on Steam today. This game is easily worth $100.

Well Sapphire Italy was completely full of . The RX 480 performs right at the level of the R9 290x according to the first legitimate benchmark released today.

That's still a lot of card for $200 (though they tested the $250 8GB version and not the $200 4GB one) but that's nowhere close to R9 Nano performance.

So much for overclocking. GTX 1060 is rumored for a July release. I think this card is still a pretty awesome deal for $200, but if Nvidia releases a 1060 with 970 performance and actually has some overclocking headroom they could end up dominating this generation just like they did the previous.

man, the RX 480 uses slightly more power than the GTX 970. Not impressive at all AMD, this was hyped to be a 110W or so card. So AMD essentially just matched a GTX 970 one year and nine months later.

Now Nvidia will probably release a GTX 1060 that just performs at this level for around $230 to keep from cannibalizing 1070 sales just like they did with the 960 vs 970.

Seriously, this is awful news. On 14 nm they essentially match a 970 in performance and power consumption? The 970 is ing 28 nm. This is a joke, AMD hasn't improved in their architecture. Only lower power consumption because of the huge node shrink. With performance per watt this ty vs Nvidia it means Vega is probably going to have to be a ing 300W card to match the 180W GTX 1080.

Time to bring DJR210 back to dance on AMD's grave.

RX 480 would have been a really impressive gpu if it was on 28 nm, not on ing 14 nm. This is the last straw. AMD is done. I see no way they're going to get enough market share back to stave off bankruptcy in 2019 when their multi billion dollar debt payments start coming due. At least no way without selling off major parts of the company and having mass layoffs. Lisa Su couldn't save the company.

I mean RX 480 is a really strong performance per dollar card, but where can they take this architecture at the high end to compete with 1070 and 1080? Much less when Nvidia drops a an next year? They might match GTX 1080 at 300W with Vega 11 this fall thanks to the massive power savings from HBM2 vs GDDR5X, but they will have no counter whatsoever for an / GTX 1080 Ti. AMD's going to make a 450W gpu?

Grim news today. Being unable to get their performance per watt under control dooms them to being stuck in the low end and midrange. Maybe the best hope is Radeon Technologies Group getting bought out by Intel to give Nvidia some real compe ion in the high end.

So AMD has once again gone out of spec here just like they did with the R9 295x2. Tom's Hardware showed the card drawing 90W through the PCIE slot when PCIE is designed to only draw 75W. They put a 75W 6-pin connector on the card specifically to push the narrative that Polaris 10 was a low power card. It should have had a ing 8-pin power 150W connector just like the GTX 1070 and 1080 do or two 6-pin 75W connectors like the GTX 970 and 980 do.

R480x is beating the 970 in some specs, is cheaper, and has more memory. How is this a fail by AMD? This is a $200 card that is fully playable at 1440p. That's an amazing value, one of the best GPUs ever for the money.
