That was crazy. The bonus being that he's a Splitter that can pop as well as roll. Also no weak flippy hooks in sight.
The wonders of today's game: A center checking his position and then stepping back behind the arc to drill a 3. Let's see more of Kirk

Has to be buried on the bench for at least 2 seasons
How many red heads can Pop handle?
With all the rookies the Spurs seem to be bringing in, at least Kawhi and LMA will get 40 minutes in big games, right?
We have 15 roster spots, I don't give two flips about 3 rookies coming over.. Bonner is coming back
Bonner is coming back though. He wants to siphon as many checks out of this organization as he can while still having the luxury of playing a little professional basketball whenever his weak calves aren't hurting.

Alex Kirk looks interesting. Mobile, jump shot, decent foot work around the basket, and steps out to shoot 3s.
7'3" wingspan and can shoot 3's. Nice... of course Boban can do that too!
Deshaun Thomas will play for Charlotte's Summer League team:
more minutes for Bertans and LJC.
Youssou Ndoye seems to be looking to play for Senegal in the Olympic Qualifying tournament in Manila (starts July 5th). That would mean that he misses out on the Summer League. The final roster hasn't been decided yet but with Gorgui Dieng missing I would expect Ndoye to make the cut.

21 years old 6-11 C with a 7-2 wingspan, played in the Latvian league last year. Not quite the Latvian player that I wanted to see.
wait, does that mean we don't have his rights anymore? That's under the assumption that for as long as a team holds a drafted player's rights, and hasn't been signed, he can only play for the team that holds his rights. Or am I mistaken on that one?
Dunno how good he is (I imagine not great since he's in the SL and not the NT), but still. It would have been nice to use a second-rounder on a guy with his tools just to see what happens in five or six years. Perfect stash: You don't think he'll be much but you know that you'll benefit if he turns out to be.
They lost his rights when they cut him before training camp. But I'm not sure if that even applied to summer league anyway. But yeah, Thomas was done as a Spurs prospect in October.
Spurs taking a look at a lot of centers.
Hope they just ink Ndoye or Cady early on in the SL and be done with it. If they don't I hope Ndoye doesn't show out too much in the qualifying games.
Yep, zero risk and all upside at that point. I would have liked to see a trade for Cornelie, he fell all the way to 53.
You have hopes Ndoye can be a rotational player, huh? I haven't done much looking up on this cat. I'm going to have to do some digging...
I actually do like him a lot, and I think he's going to improve at a rate that's hard for people to grasp just sitting around typing about it. He pretty much has everyone you need in a center. He's just raw.
Schwing. I'm going to sit and watch some D-League games now and focus on him.
The best way for Simmons to improve is by doing drills in the offseason & going up against Danny/Kawhi in practice.
Dude looks like a poor man's Spencer Hawes.![]()
Agreed. He actually improved in my estimation this past season bc he was so much worse in the dleague. POP also had him bring up the ball and handle the rock later in the season and I never thought it was bc he was turning him into a PG. It was on purpose to get him used to ball pressure.
Anyways, I liked that comment by raybies in another thread. I would prefer to see him work on his weak areas like taking (not passing up) his open 3s, exhibit sound judgement within the offense, work on his defense, try to avoid fouling. Him dominating the ball isn't going to tell us he's going to do that in the big team, they may do it to check his ballhandling, but he could always score. It was the other things that sent him to the bench, so that's what I would rather see him work on.
Immediate upgrade over Bonner.. Bonner still gets signed
