He's easily getting $15M per year.
Don't know if there's a thread about this, but I feel like he should be someone we prioritize getting, assuming the price is right. He's young, a pretty solid shooter, a good defender, and he's athletic, and I think we could have some really crazy lineups involving Aldridge at the 5 with some combination of manu-bazemore-green-kawhi around him. This is assuming he isn't about to make 15 million a year and we dont get KD

Yeah, after the season he had last year he's definitely going to be out of our price range. I wanted us to pick him up after his stint in LA a couple years back, his value was much lower then.
As long as he doesn't have to guard Lebron. Only time I saw that it didn't end pretty.
That might have changed though.
I wish there was a separate forum, kind of like a "think tank", where you could post about individuals the Spurs should target. Or maybe an "offseason thread" where you could capture ideas about players as part of a broader conversation.
Oh wait.
Or, if someone doesn't like a post, to just not respond.....
This is Spurstalk...don't be ridiculous.
I'm not sure that has ever worked in this forum.
Also, I think it's normal for the Spurs forum to basically become the Think Tank in the offseason. Especially around draft and FA time.
Bazemore sucks and he's going to get huge money, probably more than Parker and close to what Kawhi gets paid. There is no one short of Durant that's worth paying this summer. Everyone has max cap space and after Durant the free agent talent pool completely nosedives. Bring the same team back and see if you can get Gasol to come for $10 million or less. Unless somehow you can land Durant.
He'll be north of $15M. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get $18. We'll see if he's really worth that. I think he benefitted a LOT from being on the Hawks squad. And I think he's a sentimental favorite with a lot of people, because he went un-drafted.
James Ennis lit it up for the Pelicans at the end of last season. I'd take a $2.5-3M flyer on him before paying Bazemore before paying $18M for Bazemore. Put the extra $15M towards a good big man.
That's why I'm fine grabbing whatever can be had at a reasonable value (Gasol at $10mm like you mention is a good start) and seeing if any of the guys brought over from Europe pan out into rotation players, while maintaining full flexibility going forward. Teams are going to also overspend to get to the $85 million salary floor, and the jump between 16-17 and 17-18 isn't as significant, so there may be more deals to be had next offseason.
Yep, I've been saying this all month, too..if you can't get Durant, everything else should be short and/or cheap-ish..don't blow your load and future on somebody like Conley or any of the other mid-tier names..
Gasol at $10 million is probably a longshot too though. With all the money out there he should be able to pull something like 2 years, $30 million.
He's not near good enough to justify the $-per-year he'll demand.
These crapy players getting all this $. Crazy. This new salary cap
Bazemore is a slightly above average player that will receive 20 million/year, tbh..
I was the only one here seeing it coming, seeing him became the player he become before he even got consistent playing time, two years ago i calling for the Spurs to sign him when he was most cheap in the league!
anything above 6M for him is absolutely laughable

ing Kent Bazemore. Give me a break. He will be a footnote in years to come as to how the 2016 Salary Cap made mid-tier players ridiculously overpaid. He's a nothing.
Really not a good year to be making any spalsh...keep the same team and wait for next year when the market is more stabilized.
Bazemore is a sentimental favorite - people love it when an un-drafted guy makes good. But that doesn't make him a better player. It just means that he did good, considering how he got here. It's looking like he may be getting more like $19-20M per year. That's basically the equivalent of $14+ Million, based on last year's cap. If the cap had stayed the same, people would be expecting Bazemore to get maybe $9-10M... not $14M.
Spurs are going to talk to him, but he's made it pretty clear that he's gonna get paid. The Spurs will let someone else do that.
And the Lakers + Rockets offered 72m and he still declined them to stay in ATL
