From an offensive standpoint this would be good for them, but wouldn't they be giving up a good defense and rebounds with Kanter? Isn't Horford a bad defender and not really that great of a rebounder?

That's why they were so solid down low with the Adams/Kanter combo
Horford is a much more balanced player than Kanter. Kanter is a liability on defense, despite the height advantage that he'd have over Horford. I REALLY hope that they aren't able to land Horford, because it will certainly make our road back to the top that much more difficult.

Horford is a very solid defensive player, tbh..he's a legit 2-way player..

It would essentially allow them to completely replace Ibaka, while adding Oladipo..huge move..

Once seen as a bust because he was selected second overall in the 2005 draft, Williams found his niche after leaving Atlanta and becoming a stretch 4. In Charlotte, he had a career season at the best possible time, shooting 40 percent from deep while rebounding and blocking shots better than ever before. Williams is not regarded as an elite athlete, but he's capable of switching onto quick guards andthrowing down a huge dunk every once in a while. His playmaking skills aren't on the level of Draymond Green, but he plays a similar role and almost never turns the ball over.

    --------------------------------------------------------

HOPE WE CAN GET THIS GUY!
Draymond is very overrated playmaker. Klay and Curry are great off ball players.

Don't get your hopes up. Spurs aren't going to pay Bazemore. They won't spend or look for value elsewhere.

Kanter isn't known for his defense. He might be able to guard LMA better than Horford but Horford's greater mobility will be more useful against every other team.

this year, we shall have two promising players,

our point guard of the future, Murray,

and Davis Bertans, who i think could be a tremendous back up small forward in the Spurs system....

Horford is not quite as good offensively as Kanter, but still very good. However, Horford is light years better defensively. Horford/Adams is so much better than Kanter/Adams IMO.

Horford as an individual doesn't change that much against the Spurs, since Ibaka generally kills them, but he'll help them against everybody else..

They replace Ibaka but lose Kanter. That pretty much negates their size advantage. No one should be scared of Horford dominating the glass. And their bench bigs look as shaky as the Spurs' guys last year. If Boban is going to be a rotation player, he's going to eat well. And they are also losing Roberson in the SL. So now Durant almost HAS to guard Leonard primarily. That combined with the fact that Oladipo is going to have quite the adjustment going from chucker to fourth banana means I'm not worried yet. And they're likely going to have to cut Ilyasova to make the numbers work, so there really isn't even a chance of having a random big go off from three anymore.

I think I've discovered someone with more optimism than me. We'd be lucky to be able to land and afford one of those three, let alone all three.

If Presti pulls this off, GM of the year. Not only that, but at least on paper OKC would be the favorites to win it all (especially if they get any sort of get vet tag along).

    Westbrook/Roberson/Durant/Adams/Horford to start

Payne/Dipo/Sabonis/Ersan + whomever else they sign on bench is a tremendous team. Bench is a question marks, but having a young and decently talented 6th man in Dipo helps that.

I don't think it changes much vs. the Spurs, as I said earlier, but I like the move vs. other teams..IIRC, Kanter got benched in the Warriors series, Donovan had no confidence playing him..

OKC wasn't as good as they appeared to be in the playoffs IMO, they received a ton of breaks(2 game-changing calls vs. the Spurs, Roberson having literally the best stretch of shooting in his NBA career, Curry playing on 1 leg, etc), I don't think they could have won a le with their previous roster..

They needed to make high-risk/high-reward moves like getting Oladipo as another creator IMO..I wouldn't replace Roberson in the SL, though, I'd go with Oladipo in the Waiters role..

I think they got worse if they don't get somebody like Horford to help their D, though..Adams isn't a rim-protector, nor is he a special defender..

The reports that I had heard required them trading Ersan along with Kanter to clear space, but I agree that that is still an amazingly scary lineup.

Agreed. I think Horford is better than Ibaka overall (even though Ibaka killed SA) and in order to do that they basically had to trade Kanter/Waiters for Ersan/Dipo which is worst case close enough and best case much better if Dipo develops more.

all things considered, the best offseason development in the Spurs system shall be:

the evolution of the Leonard-Aldridge partnership!

    better chemistry,

    better offensive strategies

    better communication in defense

stronger fire and determination to win the NBA le

Could mean Blazers will let go of Harkless if someone offers him a decent deal. Kind of figured they'd try to upgrade with the cap space they'd have. Hopefully Parsons and Blazers agree and Harkless if free for bidding.
