Spurs being linked to a lot of bigmen.

    Pau, Bourousis, Humphries, Mahinmi, Mozgov....

This, coupled with the fact that we've retained Bobo, extended a qualifying offer to Boban, and are forever stuck with Bonner...is making it seem increasingly more likely that Timmy is gonna hang 'em up.

Spurs desperately need another rebounding big regardless of whether Tim retires or not.

Well, no doubt POR has more money to offer than SA. Will be interesting.
Pau went for the money (and operas, wtf) last time with Chicago, and saw how that worked out.

Hopefully he is willing to take a pay cut for a legit shot at a le this time around.

Where is TSpence when you need him!?

Good point. I guess they gotta prepare for the potential loss of Tim, West, and Bonner.

I was referring to how active they have reportedly been in FA, so far

They were barely a playoff team, last year, let alone a legit 2nd rounder..
I got you. I thought you were implying that them losing who they will but adding Turner would improve them to a 2nd round team.

They literally may have just spent money to get worse

Ian is exactly what I didn't want. The offense simply can't function without another player that can dribble. We have two complete non dribblers in lma and green. If we can get solid deal though it's worth acquiring a useful role player now before the cap goes up even more next year. A stud pg becomes essential with our existing roster though. Obviously that won't happen this year but maybe next year we can make a run at cp3. We will still be very compe ive this year but we have very little chance at a ring. Locking up a solid role player for years to come is important though and Ian would do just that.

Terrance Jones is still out there, and will probably get $15 mil a year. There's also teams like Dallas that exist and will probably throw big money at someone like Jones.

I'm not even going to bother judging the money. In terms of fit, Turner gets them one step closer to poor man's Warriors . . .

    - He can function as their Livingston, in that he can play point guard (offensively; he can't defend it), with Lillard/McCollum off ball. Given their gravity, they should be able to get good mileage out of myriad off ball actions.

    - If they keep Leonard (provides enough stretch to keep the lane open), he can also function as their Green, in terms of being the screen setter in the pick and roll, when their guards are being trapped and picking teams apart 4 on 3.
Woah. That's all well and good except Turner is way worse than Livingston and Leonard way worse than Green. They got worse as of now IMO. If they don't sign a good big man, I think they miss out on the playoffs possibly. Only saving grace is Mavs may have dropped out of the playoffs and other than UTA, no one beneath them improved.

But I think they got worse as of now, but they aren't done yet. Turner is literally a below average player who can't shoot.

People overreact to every name the Spurs are rumored to have "expressed interest" in. It's called due diligence. They can't just express interest in one or two names because there's no certainty with how things will turn out and if they can't get option one or two and didn't reach out to other names early while others did, it'll only make it more difficult to get them at that point.

I said poor man's version and I didn't compare the players in terms of level, but similarity and how they'll be utilized. Leonard would function as Barnes, with Aminu as Iguodala, in that scenario/lineup.

Livingston can't shoot threes and is a fine fit. Turner won't primarily spot up, he'll essentially be the backup point guard (on offense).

I'm not a fan or saying I'd have signed him, but I see the fit.

Played for BKY. Actually showed some pretty damn nice flashes here and there. Very good athlete but not much else and hard to peg because he was in BKY.

Well, think of him like a worse Jeff Ayres before Ayres got injured. Reed does't have much of an offensive game and while his tools help him on defense, he's pretty raw there. Ayres could at least shoot which Reed doesn't have that.

While Pau Gasol would be a nice get, who would you rather have Pau or Ian?

Ian is exactly the type of center we need defensively. He's mobile, athletic, can play the pnr and is not broken offense. He's not too old so you can build a core with him.

As for Pau, he's offensively very gifted and can pass and can guard the post etc but can you even play him in the fourth quarter against golden state or Cleveland?

Right now I would take ian at the same price which I'm guessing would be 10-14 million per. Al's signing gives me hope one of those two can be had for 10. Gonna need some cap to sign bertans or borrousis.

Anyways who you got Pau or Ian?
Ian. Might cost Boban right? Cap vexes me

But I think I'd rather have Ian & Milutinov than Pau & Boban. I think ... maybe.

I almost don't care. The money is so ridiculous... Hope we can land Ian and re-sign Boban. That'd be a good plate for Bigs.

If it's not Pau, TJ is my hope. Should definitely cost less than 15M with his concerns. I'd say Mirza level money (3/30) at best IMO.

He's young enough, fits enough and has upside while not killing next year's cap space.
