I'm assuming he's expected to start at SF since the Pels have no one else.
The numbers are excessive. Most expected 8-10 per.
But very few players maybe hold the likely statistical increases that Hill holds.
As a second year player forced to start for injured Paul George, Hill played out of position for 30 MPG and averaged 9 PPG, 4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1 steal.
He shot poorly, however.
So his option was declined for next season.
But Hill, despite lesser role, improved his shooting, and when played for 25+ MPg, averaged closer to 10-7-2 as a comboforward.
Gentry wants to push tempo. He likes versatile combo forwards.
Per-100 possessions, Hill averaged 15 PPG, 7 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1 APG in his last two seasons. And his FG% increased by 5%, his 2FG by 8% and he was a monster from three in the playoffs.
I get the WTFs.
But Gentry maxed out Dudley in a similar fashion in Phoenix.
Dudley and Hill are very similar players. 2-4 versatility, solid rebounders, defenders, and both improved as outside shooters.
It looks bad. But it makes enough sense if you look at more than last year's per-game numbers. It's an odd situation to just analyze it straight-forward.
I'm assuming he's expected to start at SF since the Pels have no one else.
He'll start at SF which is his ideal position, but will be a PF for smaller lineups, and can be a SG for bigger lineups.
I absolutely see Dudley-Esque statistics and efficiency within two years.
Dudley with Charlotte prior to Gentry and Phoenix was almost a perfect mirror of Hill...
Per-100: 14 PPG, 8 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1+ APG on 46% FG and iffy 3 FG.
Then with Phoenix:
Per-100: 19 PPG, 10 RPG, 3.5 APG, 2 APG on 48 FG, and significantly improved 3 (20% to 41%).
Same type of games, athleticism, instincts, versatility.
And Hill is only like 25.
If Kyle was an average athlete he would be getting the max.![]()
He'll probably get it anyways![]()
Wasn't Tyreke signed to play SF?![]()
He was really signed to be a 6th man combo guard/wing type, but the lack of depth at SF did force him to play there as well.
Matt Barnes could fetch a 1 yr 20 mill contract for a team trying to preserve their cap space for next summer.
Lance Stephenson is going to be extra motivated trying to recoup the money he last the past 2 seasons.![]()
Bump..
2.5 pts/2ast/1reb in 25 minutes after 2 games ..
holy at Today's NBA...
a solid case for the most egregiously overpaid true scrub in the history of the league, tbh..
Dell Demps will probably be the first head to roll in NOLA..-- a matter of months..That's just an abortion of a roster around AD..
