Is anyone else having a weird feeling that we fans created this monster? I've loved watching the NBA for years and years but these guys aren't saving the world or helping society other than giving us a break from the difficulties of our life. I've seen people on this board credit players with achieving something, but what has any of these basketball players achieved?

The guys that helped me fall in love with this game combined will only make as much as Jeremy F'ing Lin. It feels wrong now.

The reality is we are the ones responsible for suck asses getting $10 million per year. A one month check from one of these guys would change most of our lives. Just because these guys play basketball well doesn't mean they work harder or more than any person on this board.

"Hearing"? Like, "Word on the street is..."? How many sources could there be for what is going on in Kevin Durant's head? Who is Durant discussing his plans with, who would turn around and tell Alex Kennedy? Execs from the teams who "blew him away" with their presentations, maybe?

He's supposed to announce tomorrow morning. "Strongly considering" doesn't mean - especially when the ultimate source is probably linked to the team. Of course Durant is considering the Dubs. We all knew that before the first meeting.

This ending is going to be so anti-climactic after 100+ pages. Just another ho hum free agency period followed by a championship-contending season.

    My KD Destination preference list...

    1. Spurs
2 and 3. Heat or Celtics (Get him out of the West, and by default reduce OKC to a level below us).
    4. Clippers (but they're out. Even if they weren't that franchise always screws things up. They're cursed).
    5. OKC. Status quo isn't too bad.
    6. Warriors (This would suck, but Dubs depth would be gone. With KD and Curry being injury prone there still should be opportunities for the Spurs to escape the West in any given year. Even in this scenario I'd bet on us making the Finals at least once more in the next 3 years).

On the Warriors, which team is going to take on Bogut or Iggy with cap space, and what are they going to need the Warriors to give up to get it done?

Not at all. Aldridge and gasol came from mid level western teams. Had either chosen to remain the spurs world have had the same chances to win, whereas Durant can eliminate a rival (by leaving okc), supercharge a rival (warriors), reinstate okc add a legitimate rival, reshape our team in a huge manner,, or go east and become irrelevant.

Further lma only cost us splitter, who was a starting center but an unreliable one. Durant will cost us our starting two guard of the last 4 years. It's pretty crazy

Don't know who'd take them but I doubt it'd be Iggy they jettison. Pretty cold trading away one of the guys at the recruiting meeting with Durant. I think Bogut will be gone if they get KD.

My take on Jerry west, could just be a makeup call add mentioned, could be him telling them they're out of consideration (a la clippers), or could be a backdoor attempt by the Lakers to meet with Durant. Jerry west just raiding another mid America small market team to keep the L.A. Team viable

I wonder if this phone conversation with Jerry West blew Durant away?

    Broussard recounting it on ESPN.

I bet this scrub asked for a load of money. Should have taken that Garrett Temple money (probably what SAC offered).

Stein just sent out a few tweets..."reading tea leaves" says Warriors biggest threat if he leaves OKC, says only Durant knows.

    So, basically he said nothing.

The Clippers probably contacted Durant's agent to see if there was any real shot of him joining their team because Players are threatening to sign elsewhere. If Crawford re-ups with the Clippers, that's exactly what happened.
    Too easy!

Why would West try to help the Lakers?

Or it's a just a sign of Durant not to the Clippers.

Didn't Warriors have a deal for Crawford on hold? Obviously would mean they are still in the hunt for Durant if they weren't bidding with the Clippers.

Heh... here comes the Euro insurgency? The Hawks announce Malcolm Delaney, now the Wizards just signed one of their stashes, Tomas Satoransky. I bet a whole bunch of GM's saw these salaries and got on their intercom, "Get me the number for that foreign kid we have rights to... what was his name? Never mind, I can't pronounce it. Just get his agent on the phone."
