Mark it down, save it, and bump my post from now until the end, Durant will be a Warrior. He will accept being a sidekick so he won't have to have any pressure. He'll get to have fun and feel no pressure.
Sidekick to Iggy? Curry dwarfs into beta mode in the playoffs too. And Thompson sort of does as well.

The Nuggets, sources say, continue to have active interest in signing Dwyane Wade. Instinct (still) tells me Miami ultimately figures it out

It would not make any sense for him to come to a team that he just beat in the playoffs. Golden state I can understand if you can't beat them join them theory. But why would you come here than just stay with the team and core that just beat the Spurs .
Because the Spurs with Durant is a stronger team than the Thunder with Durant.

If he joins the Warriors, he'll still have the unenviable task of guarding the Finals MVP if they make it that far. If he joins the Spurs, that task falls on a certain former Finals MVP.

I guess I am one of the few who thinks Durant to GSW won't work well, but could be to our benefit. There just isn't enough shots to go around, and their defense will suffer. I would rather see Durant to GSW than OKC, as it would eliminate one more obstacle for the Spurs.

Yep. He wants that. He doesn't have to take the heat if they fail. He gets to be a supporting player.

I'm getting sick of going to ESPN for updates and having them thrust photos of naked men on my screen because "the body issue" is out. Why have that issue during free agency...

With OKC or SA, he'll have to be the alpha especially with SA. He doesn't want that pressure. The GSW are an easier choice for him.

Will Barton is mad man right now.

He is as good as Crabbe but locked up himself into a 10m contract with Denver last season. He could have made this same money this season

for all those who say durant wants to be a beta in warrior land, can't he find a happy medium in Boston? Blame horford, blame the youth?

Yea, but Kawhi is the only one of the three to close the deal in the finals against Lebron. The Spurs would be Durant's team, but Kawhi, with the defense focused on Durant, would close out the games as the Alpha.

No way, it's Durants team if he goes to them. Curry is JUST a shooter.

Damn I really liked Crabbe also. I hoped he would of signed for one more year in Portland, be unrestricted next year and the Spurs could go after him, especially if they would look to get rid of Verde and get younger with Manu and Tim forsure gone next offseason.

Yeah that's how I see it. There's only so many shots to go around. If he went to the Spurs Durant would be the #1 option and then LA#2. Kawhi will get his in the flow of the game. This also frees Kawhi to play lockdown defense the entire game.

Also, assume Durant to GSW. Who on that team guards Lebron? Durant? Doubt he wants that responsibility. Curry and Thompson can't. Green didn't do it very well this year (or last). Iggy may have to be dropped, but he showed he couldn't do it w/out Bogut and one or both of those guys have to leave to sign Durant. You won't just beat Cleveland on offense. And Kawhi is the only contender that can make Lebron James work and shoot poorly. The le runs through Lebron. And Pop is the only coach that has beat an experienced Lebron team at full strength in the finals.

Could easily be reading too much into it, but I don't like the sounds of him announcing it on the Players Tribune. If he were staying, would there be a need for what will presumably be some article explaining his decision?

If he were to go to the Warriors, I'm sure he'd write some cliche about how hard it was to leave, how much the organization/community meant to him, how it went beyond basketball and that they'll always have a special place in his heart, but he couldn't pass up the opportunity to be a part of something historic, etc.
Good point. I think we are still in the mix bc Pop hasn't moved on to anyone else but I will be the first to say it would shock me. I expect him anywhere else. Too many forwards here and too old and weak everywhere else. I would prefer anywhere but Dubs, anywhere. Dubs it may be. Yuck!
