    Harlem is spot on.

What's worse, is people who don't realize that it's about fit, context and nuance and instead spew antiquated nonsense: (insert decent player) is making (insert significant amount of money) and only averaged (insert pedestrian per game averages).

I don't know why it's so difficult for people to understand that it's all based on revenue generated; 50% of which the players are en led to and at least 90% of which teams must spend.
Conley is not worth 30 million a year, I don't give a damn what you say. The cap is still going down in two years.

Based on you arbitrarily saying he isn't?

Again, no context. He's worth it because that's what the market is willing to bear and because of what the Grizzlies perceive his value to be to them, not just as a team, but a franchise.

Lose him, probably fall out of the playoffs for a few years and see ticket sales, merchandise, ratings, etc. fall off, as well as the perception of the franchise around the league to players/agents.

And in a few years, be stuck with an albatross contract as soon as the cap goes down, and still at risk of missing the playoffs. No one is coming to that arena to watch Conley. They were already 24th in attendance last year.

That might play out, but too often people look at it from the perspective of winning a championship, as if that's a realistic goal for most franchises.

What was the alternative? "Tear it down"? A year after re-signing Gasol and probably promising him that they'd do everything to re-sign Conley and attempt to continue to build towards contending. That's a good way to destroy the relationship and hurt the perception of the franchise to players/agents. Markets like that especially can't afford to be doing like that. Besides, ownership might not even allow management to go that route.

Dirk is a very impressive player to watch, if you look back at his prime..much better footwork than Bird, more mobile, probably a better shooter, and his legit 7-foot frame made it impossible to guard him..

The fact that the NBA actually put Larry Bird on all-defense teams is such an insult to fans of that era..could have never gotten away with that in the social media era..

Europeans really added a nice touch to the NBA game..you hear 90s players rave about Drazen Petrovic, the mid-2000s to present are full of players like him, tbh..
    you're on a troll roll.
    Dirk more mobile then Bird.
All Defense teams being rigged could never happen in todays social media era. Want to know who was selected 9 times to the first team?

You mean like firing Joerger and Hollins, two coaches who brought them back to relevance? Memphis will eventually end up moving somewhere else anyway.

Harlem all over the place now. Seems like his asshole was broken when team ball was beaten by ISOball, a 90's style.

What do two run of the mill coaches have to do with what I said?

Of course the masses won't flock to Grizzlies games to watch Conley, but they're more likely to, to watch a winner and that's what they've consistently been for a long time now.
