So money wise how does this work, what does GS have to give up to get him? It's got to be more then just Bogut.

It doesn't hurt the NBA's brand at all. People have been talking about free agency for a month, now they'll be talking all summer about the Warriors with KD, and then everybody will be hate-watching the Dubs and rooting for them to fail. The league office is probably popping champagne right now at the windfall profits they just made.

The only thing this hurts is Durbeta's fraud legacy. He went from a superstar to an overrated role player in the eyes of the casual fan overnight.
Agreed 100% with this. This does nothing but boost the NBA's rep to the casual fan and give everyone who were already on GSW jock more reason to prop them. This ONLY hurts OUR view of Durant and the super-team league its becoming because our perception...that the most special ring and truly "earned" ring is the one won organically as ours have been.

I never thought iŽd agree in anything with Steven A. Smith.
Hear, hear! It's a weak move. KD has no soul!

You fellas are forgetting that GS is a team full of soft ass choking gots.
    Very articulately stated.

I'd like to have some of what you're smoking if you think KD is going to be getting less shot attempts/touches than Klay and Draymond

Yep. Durant may get more than Draymond but Klay has the green light period, just like Steph.

that. On one hand the Thunder are screwed. On the other hand an MVP and scoring champ in his prime is going to a team that went 73-9! What a pussy for choosing a 73-9 team instead of trying to get one for the Thunder or join a contendor instead of a team that just won a championship 2 years ago. Lot of respect lost for Durant here. Let's hope for chemistry issues and defensive issues and Curry pissing Durant off by shooting 40 foot threes with 15 seconds left on the clock. Bad move for his legacy and now he's on a championship or bust team. OKC and San Antonio woulda been much greater options. 73-9 and now Kevin Durant? Wow they will have bullseye on their head. Bad move Kev what were you thinking.

You mean LeBron. But the problem is, OKC still has Westbrick and a good enough team to make a lower seed playoff spot in the West... they're not going to completely disappear and get #1 overall picks like the Cavs did from 2011-2014.
OKC without Durant or WB is nothing, that time when Durbeta played like 10 games and got injured WB had to give his all the remaining of the season for a playoff spot, the result was an injury and OKC missed the playoffs.

Well the good news is Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are not of caliber of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, just skilled shooters who play very smart, so yes the Warriors with Durant are beatable.

As I said yesterday, I knew it once I heard he'd announce it on the Players Tribune and that "it wasn't going to be about the money".

What a loser. Leaves a team that would have been slight underdogs against those pricks for the foreseeable future, where winning one championship probably would have feel more satisfying than winning a bunch with them. How satisfying can it feel when no one stands a chance? That's the whole point of winning a championship: It's extremely difficult. Take that out and all it is, is a bunch of grown men playing a game and raising a trophy. He's ruined the league for the foreseeable future.

It took the Spurs damn near 2 decades of building credibility, years worth of careful cap management, etc., to finally be in position to lure a star free agent and these assholes, with a damn near Clippers level history of inep ude, stumble into the 3rd best player in the league, thanks to the Curry contract and (probably) losing game 7.

If the rest of the league were intelligent, they'd collude, refuse to acquire Bogut or anyone no matter what they attach and block this move.

He still has plenty left in the tank, great signing for the Spurs. Has a high Basketball IQ, great passer, rebounder, but the defense will be an issue though he can occasionally come up with a key block. I don't understand fans not being happy with this. Spurs needed a player that can score in the low post consistently, the OKC series exposed that. Pau will bring that.

Cheers What people need to understand on this site is the retirement of Timmy was always going to hurt, but this is a good next step and may even improve the offense.

I hate reading the internet saying Duncan is retiring because the Warriors signed Durant, lol. People forget how dominate Tim was as a player, he wasn't flashy but he always got the job done and it lead to NBA championships, and it seems like 2 decades worth of 50+ win seasons. When the Warriors were a lottery team, the Spurs were doing what they were doing. Saying Duncan is retiring because of Durant signing is so stupid, ignorant. Duncan is retiring because a player reaches a point were the body says no. To play in the NBA at a high level you need to be 100%. Duncan seems like he'd rather retire than just sit on the bench all season. He has nothing to prove, he is already one of the NBA's greatest players of all-time

So people that says he is retiring because of the Warrior's signing KD, it's just so dumb. Duncan has had an amazing career, and if he felt he could be at or near 100% the whole NBA season he'd be back. At 40 Duncan isn't old in real life, but it seems for the NBA way father time is undefeated since it seems players body's at that point can't handle the NBA grind anymore.

I thought Tim was a cyborg, but I guess he is human afterall.

I hope he comes back after the all-star break though and just takes some time off.

    Tim is a real Warrior.

    Well said.

I hadn't heard people were saying he was retiring because the Dubs got Durant but it doesn't surprise me that some are posting that. It's sad because it implies Tim was somehow afraid of the compe ion, that the Warriors are now unbeatable (how may "unbeatable" teams in sports history were beaten, we just saw it in the Finals for example).

If TD is going, it's because the second knee, the "good knee" is finally gone and he can't move anymore. His instincts, brains and length still made him a killer defender but his offense was gone. He was just sort of throwing the ball up there. I just watched a clip from the 2014 Finals and was amazed how much quicker Tim moved a mere two years ago. It's his body. Timmy did battle with the Shaq-Kobe Lakers and the Heatles, the jumping shooting Dubs, as good as they are, don't scare TD. If he were healthy he'd go.

    Cheers.

Its not him per se, Le started this scheming in his Wade love fest. Kids copy what they see. Fans dig it. Comes back to what you want your business to be - ty and tainted, or professional and compe ive. Too bad the commissioner cannot take control. Inmates running the asylum.

A talking point that should be discussed that imo one of the big reasons behind his decsion was religion. Durant is religious as and so are the Warriors, mainly Curry, Draymond, and Iggy. Not Klay, nor Bogut and Barnes. And Bogut and Barnes are gone. This is a team that got to together and prayed for Curry knee injury. They all go to church together. Not only does religion ruin this world, it ruins basketball as well. lol

On the plus side if Dallas gets Harry B. and Bogut then they probably won't go after Boban, that sounds like something they would do.
You guys talk about Boban like he's this god sent child or whatever. He sucks and sucks.

I ing hate this super-team bull . What happened to competing against your rivals? I really liked KD before this. Now, not so much. Way to ruin compe ive balance in the NBA, jerkoff.
