“I’m ready to take the next step. I’m not going to shy away from saying that I feel like I’m an NBA-ready guy and I’m going to get on the floor with the physical mindset that I have,” Stokes said. “I’m a rebounder at heart and that will be one of the things that I’ll be really looking forward to showcasing in the Summer League.”

Spurs could use some of that.

I knew it. I ing knew it. I was talking about this last night. He's a ing short Dejuan Blair. They used to list him as 6'6" or 6'7", and I don't think he's grown an inch. They just started listing him as 6'9". He's a good kid, and he has a lot going for him, but he's a ing tweener who will look exciting against third-tier compe ion, and get his ass kicked by the good ones. That's why he shines in the D-League, and can't get minutes in the NBA. He's just the kind of guy a lot of Spurs fans will love. They will remember the good plays, and not take into account that they come in garbage time.

A buddy texted me last night and said that Spurs' people were checking him out pretty closely. I didn't want to believe it, but he's not a guy who bull s. He was D-League MVP, and he's gonna be cheap... oh me, this season is shaping up very ugly.

Before any of you start having fits about how great he is, consider that he was the D-League MVP, and no other team had signed him. At least stop to consider that there might be a reason. Oh, and understand that he's 6'7 1/2" at best. He's a PF with 2-guard height. I hope he steps up and make me eat crow, but I don't see it happening.

Can he defend the block and on the perimeter? If the spurs are this interested in him, it's got to be for good reason. Hopefully not just because of the price tag...

He isn't in the league for the same reason Blair barley plays, he's undersized, an average athlete & has a limited skillset. In the right system, he can be a rotation player like Blair was when he came into the league.

Draymond Green is 6’8. in today's NBA he is not as undersized as he would be 10 years ago

lol at 6’8 or 6’9 being undersized for a PF in 2016. guys don't play on the block anymore and the only team with size that killed us is not a threat next season

He is a traditional PF not a hybrid forward, he also has a short standing reach for a PF.

Stokes can certainly rebound and he's hungry. Who knows? The Spurs have had success with D-league guys.

Stokes measured 6-7 without shoes at the draft combine. Draymond Green measured 6-5 3/4 at the combine, at the same age. They both had identical 7-1 1/4 wingspans. Stokes weighed nearly 30 pounds more than Green, but with an even lower body fat %, and better vertical jumps. Stokes doesn't have great size for a PF, but he's not "undersized" either. Certainly not for a bench player.

Coincidentally, both Stokes and Draymond were the 35th overall pick in their respective drafts.

Draftexpress.com lists him as 6'8.5" with shoes on, 6'7" without: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/...es-6282/stats/

Blair is listed as 6'6.5" with shoes, 6'5.25" without.

Stokes was named to the all-DNBA first team last season... but to keep things in perspective, so was Jeff Ayres.

Draymond is exceptional, and perfect for that Warriors system. He also plays bigger than he is because he's juiced for the last couple of off-seasons*, and he's strong as . I'm not disagreeing about Draymond, but if that theory was good across the board, Blair would be a star in the league.

I already said that I hope he steps up and proves me wrong. The fact that the Spurs are looking at 6'7" PF's is enough to make me queasy.

[*That's not sour grapes about Draymond. Go look at pictures of him, and he's changing exactly like Barry Bonds did. This is one subject I know something about, and I have zero doubt that Draymond has had a very good chemist helping him in the last couple of off-seasons. I'm not going to fight about it - if you have a different opinion, I won't argue with you over it. But in an industry where a slight edge gets you millions of dollars? It's hard to believe that a lot of guys wouldn't do it, if they could get by with it. Enhanced or not, he's a damn good player, and I'm not trying to take a thing away from him.]
