I wonder if this is just bull or if some team actually tried throwing like $10+ million at Manu for a 1-year deal. Can't imagine any team would do that. Manu is a great piece for a contender looking to improve, but I don't think any contenders have that sort of money (certainly not to throw at Manu). If it's a middling or garbage team, I don't know why the they'd want to spend that money on him either. *shrugs*

Anyways, guesses on how much money he got from SA?
"Big offer", doesn't necesarily have to be because of money, imho.

Doubt it. A man of Manu's age serves no purpose to a rebuilding team. It surely was from a playoffs team, most likely a contender. I wouldn't be shocked if it was from GS, tbh. They lost some depth and Kerr loves Manu's game.
GS has no money.. they couldn't offer a serious deal that woud jeopardize the Spurs.

A chance of playing for the best team in the league is a "big offer" in itself. Specially under Manu's thinking.

Maybe nut his agent was talking about the increase in money around the league and how Manu was aware of the market. He wasn't going to go play for the minimum and chase rings. He wanted more than the 2.9 he was gonna get and play for someone who's in the conversation. Cavs have no money, Clip have no money, GS has no money.. It was San Antonio or bust.. I'm sure the Spurs could have played hardball and got him for cheaper but why not just pay him some cash especially since it'll be over the cap and only for 1 year.

I was thinking GS or the Thunder - possibly the Lakers.

Miami? It could have been a number of teams.

Few players who contribute to winning as much as Manu are this cheap.

10 million and he'll still be significantly underpaid.

I am of course very happy to have Manu back (my favorite player all time after TD). And he deserves the pay raise.

But with him and Dedmond signing, where is the money coming from? Someone else getting traded?

Basically what I got from the video is that if Manu got paid ($5 million or so), it means that Duncan is retiring. And with reports that Manu got a bump, that's what it seems like from my point of view.

He would have been a good mentor to their young guys.

Or maybe Pat Riley trying to show Wade something by signing Manu.

They traded Pau for West. Saved a ton.

I could see Manu possibly considering Miami a bit, even if it was just a tiny bit. That latino lifestyle there makes SA look like Dallas.
