I don't think it would be situational. I think that's just what they'd do normally. Would be nice to have a go-to scorer off the bench, but again, I don't think Manu would accept that.
I would give up Simmons in this scenario and keep Anderson, and Anderson and Gay could alternate between playing backup SFs and PF in small ball situations next year, which I'm guessing will be numerous.

manu would accept that
the big three have no ego
I'd take Rudy over manu in a heartbeat. Manu can take that 20 MIL elsewhere.
you just said that to piss off chinook right?
hmmm..... will need to add mills with green and it works out.
or parker + murray. or something like that.
I would do it!
Trade green and mills for Rudy Gay. Then bring in Hanga who wants to come over.
Starting Lineup
parker
gay
leonard
LMA
pau
2nd unit
Murray
Manu
Bertans
Anderson
Dedmon
Rest of Bench
Forbes
Hanga
Simmons
LJC
???
He got via fax give him a break
Find a way to keep Bonner's bird rights (would mean some insane maneuvering) and sign him for a crazy contract to make the salaries match. Can trade him December 1 or something.
I actually like it. Sorry Green lovers/defenders. Gay is more versatile and as long as he understands he would be the 4th/5th option. I think it might work. I'm only concerned with the shooting from three, although Leonard would make a fine shooting guard imo. The bench though might struggle with consistency with so many new players. But this is a move you could make at the trade deadline if the season isn't going great.
As for Hanga, he said he's not coming over this year.
They can have Parker, we got Murray now.![]()
I like this![]()
First unit isn't so hot either.
He did say in a tweet the other day he wants to play in the NBA.
At 6'9" and a 7'2" wingspan Rudy would be an interesting matchup with Durrant.
Gay would be fine as a 6th or 7th man if he accepted that role, tbh..should never be starting on a legit NBA contender team, though, there's a reason literally every team he joins gets worse, and every team he leaves gets better
There's no way you can build a championship offense if he's in your starting unit IMO..
Yeah, he's much more of a Beli replacement than a Green replacement. Dude's a net-negative as a starter.
I would say more of a Manu replacement, in a much different way(Gay is a terrible passer, but could carry the bench load as an ISO scorer)..
Who knows, though, he's going to be 30 very soon, maybe he's tired of losing and would be willing to alter his style of play(the embarrassment with the Raptors fueled him to have arguably his best NBA season in 2014-2015 with the Kings, for example)..
An entire year of Cousins and Rondo on your team would probably make you lose your mind![]()
More like Kawhi insurance imo. The offense wouldn't take as much of a hit as the defense would.
Per KSAT News, Tim Duncan's decision will be delayed a few more days out of respect for the fallen police officers killed in an ambush in Dallas.
